Re: The 2020 Presidential campaign.
the one thing I'll give Bloomberg is that he's saying all of the right things about the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator... and he's amplifying it via TV/media ads.
it's kinda nice to see someone remind the American public of the disgusting piece of pathetic trash that's in the White House and the racist, bigoted misogynistic supporters who put him there.
other than that, I don't know much about him.

I guess I just don't like see babies taken away from mothers and put into cages. Also, I believe the science around global warming and view it as a threat to our species. Those two issues alone make a vote for Bloomberg easy. I feel the same way about Bernie. I don't think he can beat Trump but I'd have no problem casting my ballot for him.

I'd have more comfort voting for Daddy Bloomberg Bucks than Bernie. I think Mike can be more of a stabilizing force. The idea of Bernie angrily shaking his fists around the Oval Office worries me a little.
I'd vote for Bernie over Trump but he'd never be my 1st choice on the D ticket.

Re: The 2020 Presidential campaign.
The point, friends, is not whether he’d let the kids out of the cages or reengage the US in the Paris treaty. The point is that a lifelong republican has bought his way on to the Democratic presidential ticket and if income inequality and the continued exploitation of labor worldwide is of any concern to you, a vote for Bloomberg is a vote for plutocracy.
You say that you care about immigrants or the environment? What’s the real underlying issue driving BOTH of those crises?
I’ll give you a hint.

Yeah, the general election this November is going to be a very simple choice. This primary is looking like it will be a very difficult choice. I have one primary issue and that's a referendum on Trump. Hoping by the time it's my turn there's a clear choice instead of a crowded field neck to neck.

Just to be clear it's the not the party making that choice, it will be the voters. Also, we can rest easy the odds of him pulling it off are pretty damn slim.

The voters? Has anyone gotten a chance to actually vet this guy? He’s bought his way into contention. To say it’s the voters choosing him completely whitewashes that he’s just decided to ignore all of them until Super Tuesday. To say the voters are choosing him turns a blind eye to the fact that he is doing exactly what trump has done: sending his message out on his terms without standing in front of real people and having his ideas questioned. He’s a paper candidate. He’s all smoke and mirrors. This is our new reality because of social media and Citizens United. Fuck that. We’re headed straight for fucking Blade Runner man. And none of us gets to live in the fucking pyramid.

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Twitter is not reality. It allows people to amplify extreme voices and then allows other people like you to generalize so that they feel justified in wholesale rejection.

Dude. There’s zero chance that Dems become the party of Bloomberg. None. This isn’t the same thing as Trump and him being able to expose what Republicans have always been. The Dem party would self correct if he ever became president. Bloomberg and Trump aren’t even remotely comparable. And to make the leap for wanting trump to win is way over the top. Bro!

Right now he has zero delegates. He's in contention because he believes voters mostly care about replacing Trump and because Biden's campaign is falling apart. Also, if you want Bernie you should be thrilled about him he's dividing up the centrist vote and increasing Bernie's chances of winning.

I don’t think it’s over the top. Because obviously we haven’t suffered enough to know that we need global change. Fundamental change to the way our planetary presence as a species functions. We need a circular economy and there’s no incentive in capitalism for that. It has to be regulatory. We have to demand that the economy serves the greatest good, not the greatest profit margin.
That may seem drastic or Pie in the sky, but it’s not. We’re teetering on a precipice: on one side is real meaningful socially responsible humanity. On the other side is runaway capitalism, environmental ruin, and plutocracy.
So no, I don’t think it’s extreme. And the problem for generation after generation is that the nightmares we now see have come to us in such tiny increments that we don’t see what we’re wading into until it’s up to our necks. I don’t blame boomers for where we are. Times were good. It looked like their kids could enjoy the same benefits that they always had. We couldn’t. And our kids won’t. So instead of clinging to an old model that is rapidly breaking down, let’s pass something better to the next generation. The iron is hot. Gotta do it now.

Interesting that twitter warned me as I clicked on your link that replies had been hidden by the OP. Here’s the first one he hid:
“This is bs. EW knows a lot of the alleged Bernie bros are trolls. I know many Bernie supporters, elderly, poc, young people. None of them act like trolls. Bernie is my first choice, Warren is my close second, but this take is disingenuous& makes me question my support of her.“
Twitter is not real life.
Let’s say it again: social media is built to amplify extreme voices and keep people engaged through outrage. unplug from the outrage machine. I love Warren. But this take is wrong.

I agree with you for the most part. But Bloomer can’t be worse than Trump. No way. Can’t be. The move to what you prefer will be gradual. Bernie is the fast track. I don’t think America is ready for that. Unfortunately job one is beating Trump. I don’t think we have time to quibble. Not a Bloomberg guy but if he emerges, so be it. We can not afford another four years of Trump.

Loaded questions are stupid.
If Democrats keep the house and win the senate, I would hope it would mean that the electorate is engaged enough to see through the Bloomberg magic show and he’s not the nominee.
How’s that?

So no, I don’t think it’s extreme. And the problem for generation after generation is that the nightmares we now see have come to us in such tiny increments that we don’t see what we’re wading into until it’s up to our necks. I don’t blame boomers for where we are. Times were good. It looked like their kids could enjoy the same benefits that they always had. We couldn’t. And our kids won’t. So instead of clinging to an old model that is rapidly breaking down, let’s pass something better to the next generation. The iron is hot. Gotta do it now.
Bloomberg and the other so called centrists represent the old way.
Fuck that noise.
I appreciate your honesty. I don’t know if I could bring myself to ever agree with you on that. It’s all part of the same fuck you to the workers of the world. And yes, I know that sounds totally communist.
