I've been a Spartan for 36 years. This fan base is very much like the message boards. Unable to enjoy success, always waiting for the other shoe to drop, as self loathing as self loathing gets.

Now granted history has given them every reason to be guarded. But damn this football program under Coach D has exceeded all expectations. Last year sucked. It's not debatable. We will be back. And when we are, this fan base will be waiting for it to end.

...I was thinking of you the other day watching Mike and Mad Dog 30 for 30. Fans (short for fanatics) could really identify with them in a similar way Spartan fans can identify with Valenti. Yet you always found it so offensive for some reason

He didn't graduate in the fall of 81. He wasn't even a full SPARTAN at that point. More like a Spartan trainee. He probably graduated in like 85. So I think he can only claim being a real SPARTAN for 32 years.

Unless you went to every class, every athletic event whether it was quidditch or debate - and stayed till THE END, you're not a true SPARTAN in my book.
