This is funny because Izzo literally can't win here. He kicks him off - he only kicked him off because he's a walkon. Jesus what a shit show.

MSU needs to lift that fucking burden now and go to battle with this fucking lady and espn. Speak up or forever hold your peace. You’re not going to get help from any media outside of espn.

I don't think they can OTPT. The optics would be awful on the heels of the Nassar stuff. All of the Nassar victims will take to social media and destroy MSU again.

In other news, the FBI pay-for-play investigation is heating up again (I couldn't find the original thread)...

https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-college-hoops-corruption-case-poised-take-hall-fame-coaches-top-programs-lottery-picks-224417174.html
Multiple sources who’ve been briefed on the case and are familiar with the material obtained by feds told Yahoo Sports that the impact on the sport will be substantial and relentless. Sitting under protective order right now are the fruits of 330 days of monitoring activity by the feds, which one assistant US Attorney noted Thursday was “a voluminous amount of material.” That includes wiretaps from 4,000 intercepted calls and thousands of documents and bank records obtained from raids and confiscated computers, including those from notorious NBA agent Andy Miller.
“This goes a lot deeper in college basketball than four corrupt assistant coaches,” said a source who has been briefed on the details of the case. “When this all comes out, Hall of Fame coaches should be scared, lottery picks won’t be eligible to play and almost half of the 16 teams the NCAA showed on its initial NCAA tournament show this weekend should worry about their appearance being vacated.”

My fantasy: Izzo, next presser. "O.K., we'd love to ahve a sit down with Paula Lavigne. We will answer every question. We would also like to have her answer some of ours. We want our cameras' rolling the minute she walks in, till the moment the interview is over. It will be a question and answer period for both sides. after, we invite ESPN to air every minute of the session. If they clip any parts of the tape, we'll fill in where they've left off by using our film. And I mean Paula can ask any question she wants, no restrictions. We'll answer, but she also must answer."
So, sue me for dreaming.

Izzo would get annihilated by Lavigne. Love Izzo, but he's not the guy I want debating the merits of the basketball program or the OTL hit piece - I'd be much more comfortable with the Jones Day guys
Actually maybe not. The discredited writer Paula Levigne would probably press charges for mental assault after Dantonio leaves her in tears.

The whole publishing names based on an accusation is so incredibly unfair. His reputation is in tatters even if the accusation is discarded. If this were a male naming a rape victim the entire media would be shredding LaVigne.

And how do you think she is at being interviewed? Dwags' fantasy was a question and answer session both ways. She doesn't defend herself well on Twitter when being questioned.gHost Spartan wrote:Not their area of expertise. My guess is that Lavigne is a very skilled interviewer and she's got a very strong legal background from her involvement in the various lawsuits with MSU. I have read quite a few of the pleadings and, through them, I can tell that she's a ruthless bitch. She would call MSU, demand records, and then remind MSU that ESPN won a lawsuit again them, and demand records. That's why the 2017 case emerged. The day after learning about Corley et al, she called MSU and demanded the names of the kids. MSU refused. MSU then went to court to block ESPN from getting the records because Ingham County Prosecutor told them NOT to disclose the records because of pending litigation.MiamiSpartan wrote:

Re: 2017/2018 General College Basketball Thread
Walton seems to be talking to you personally, like he's in your living room, just done smoking a joint with you, a game happens to be on. Like he'd your friend, you have the game on, once in a while you talk about somebody in it or something that is going on in it, but it's just you and him, bullshitting about life.
It's pretty different than most analysts and it seems to work. He's matched up with a partner who doesn't have such a big ego that he goes crazy. He gives walton his space and lets him roll. If I'm not listenting to music during a game, I'd rather listen to Walton than any other analyst. I like Bilas too. He's smart and doesn't come off as being an asshole know it all. I'll never forget the commentary when our managers and Iowa's managers were having five on five before a game. He was great. The rst of the talking people on t.v. are pretty much boxed and boring .
