Did we land on the moon in 1969?
I've never spent a great deal of time on this, but I did watch a program this morning that has me very skeptical.

Sorry, but this is the stupidest of all conspiracy theories.
Apollo 11, 14 and 15 all left retro-reflector arrays that you can still bounce laser beams off of - proving that they are on the moons surface.

I'm not going to the wall on this, but those retroreflectors are man made objects. We have man made objects on Mars too (but no people).

Let's find a baseline here. Do you believe it is possible we have never sent anyone into orbit around the earth?

I met a woman on New Year's Eve who believes in lizard people and chem trails. She also had an "open mind" regarding a flat Earth.

If we did go there, why have we not gone back in over 45 years? There must be a hell of a lot more we could learn now.

So you buy everything that the space program has done except for the moon landing? Usually I think people need to buy in to the whole massive worldwide flat earth, all of space is fake, etc. otherwise it doesn't make sense that we only faked that.SawGreen wrote:retro-reflector arraysMSU addict wrote:Sorry, but this is the stupidest of all conspiracy theories.

However, while your post was probably tongue and cheek, a lot of deniers do say that. But at the end of 1972, what else were we really going to learn there that was worth the massive investment on each trip? We shifted to the space shuttle program, which did far more to advance our learning of space and the universe at a much much lower cost per mission.

I buy into pretty much everything NASA has done, but I also think the motivation to put a man on the moon before the end of the 1960's was pretty strong and the political climate pretty unique. I guess I think there is potential that it was a hoax.

It doesn't make sense to me that we could do send people to space, send them around the moon, but not be able to land them on the moon.SawGreen wrote:MiamiSpartan wrote:

I also don't see why Nixon would have felt pressure to fulfill something that the guy who had beaten him promised.
But everyone sees things differently. Just becareful not to go full Antine on this stuff.

Not tongue-in-cheek at all. There is no factual proof man ever walked on the Moon that I'm aware of.MiamiSpartan wrote:NASA is officially working on going back now.The Pantry wrote:If we did go there, why have we not gone back in over 45 years? There must be a hell of a lot more we could learn now.

Think about it. How did man go from just getting into space to a quarter million miles away on the Lunar surface in just 10 years?
Then on the other hand, how could it be fake for all these years? Death threats to all involved in staging? For all we know Kennedy was assassinated because he was pissed NASA couldn't actually pull it off after his proclamation in '61.

No telescope located on earth has the resolution to see an object such as the landing module on the moon - not even close. The Pantry wrote:Not tongue-in-cheek at all. There is no factual proof man ever walked on the Moon that I'm aware of.MiamiSpartan wrote:

However, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has sent pictures of the moons surface that do show such detail, including equipment left on the moon and the tracks of both astronauts walking and the lunar rovers.

Occam's Razor: Too many people would have been involved in a hoax for someone credible and holding proof not to come forward. Therefore there was no hoax..

What kind of “factual proof” would satisfy your conspiracy theorist brain? In other words, if what has been provided is not good enough, then what is?
