Where does Suh land?
I'd read Miami in some other speculation, this article makes it seem more likely.

Welcome to the Miami Dolphins offseason. Welcome to the remaking of a defense.
Welcome to a looming $102 million (or so) contract offer to Ndamukong Suh.

There is chatter of Suh to Miami. If that happens I might get season tickets.

So 300 down in Vegas gets you 100 back if he DOESN"T sign with the lions. Sounds like a sure thing to me.

Re: Where does Suh land?
I've got mixed feelings over Detroit losing him.
1) I'll miss the great plays he makes.
2) I don't care much for the dirty shit he pulls now and then.
3) If spent wisely the $17-20M it's going to take to sign him should strengthen 3-4 other positions.

Agree with all three points.
1) I agree, but is one player worth it?
2) He's kind of reined in the dirty shit but I agree I hate his dirty play.
3) I agree with this, not sure if I have faith in the Lions to to do that. If it were the Pats they'd release him and reload with three new players. Lions can't see it.

Mortenson reports Suh will sign with Dolphins for $114 million. That's the bank he was planning to break. Didn't matter who paid it.

This can be a good thing. But it's the Lions so they'll blow it all on wide receivers and tight ends.

Re: Where does Suh land?
Yesterday, I was talking to someone who works for the Dolphins. I told him that there were tweets saying that Suh was with the Dolphins. He just nonchalant tells me that since it was being reported by quite a few places he could finally confirm it. Interesting to me that the way he said it, made it seem as if something had been in place for about a week.
If there is no contact, how are these deals setup during a blackout period?

Well, bye.
I'm sure the Lions will return to mediocrity now that Suh is gone.... Wait.... You mean to tell me that the Lions were mediocre even with Suh? Oh. In that case, bye. At least now he can win a Super Bowl. Wait, the Dolphins suck too? Oh. At least he can enjoy the Miami lifestyle. Bye.

The Dolphins guaranteed $60 mil over 3 years. Lions $58 mil over 4 years. Also Florida has no state income tax.
All things being equal would you have turned down more $ to stay in Detroit over Miami?
Suh owes the Lions nothing - it's a hardball league. There is no loyalty in the NFL.
Hell the Steelers are hoping that Troy Polamalu retires so they don't have to cut him. But they will cut him.
Show me 10 Hall of Famers who played in the 80s or 90s and more than half of them played for more than one team.

I don't think it's a black out period, it's just that free agency officially begins tomorrow. Even if a team can't talk to a player that isn't on their roster, they can talk to his agent. And of course the agent can talk to his client whenever he wants.

Ok, that makes sense. Guess it might also make sense that Suh let his agent decide for him, where he is going to play. I was thinking of something like the recruiting blackout period that's in college.

Suh did say at one point that his agent will decide where he plays, but I think that was just to let everyone know that he was going to require a massive contract.
It is hard to keep up with because each league has different rules. Kevin Love was accused of talking to Cleveland before he was supposed to last year, but he and LeBron said that it was only them that had any discussions. And even though LeBron can pass info from Love to the Cleveland front office, the NBA can't tell players that they aren't allowed to talk to each other.

Also: "Ngata, 31, is a five-time Pro Bowl player who had been the foundation for the Ravens' run defense. He had his best season in recent memory last year before getting suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs."

The Lions are paying Suh close to 10 million this year? For not playing on the team? Whois Chris Houston? 3.9 million?
WTF were the Lions thinking by either A) Not trading Suh to get something for him? B) Why not trade Megatron and get something good for him, clear cap space and lose a player who doesn't play 25% of the time anyway?
What a major stumble IMO of management.

I think this cements the Lions' move to a 3-4 defense.

Re: Where does Suh land?
Why is Ebron making almost 3? Also can they cut Broyles and Pettigrew? Those deals are way out of whack for the production they're getting for those guys.
Paying Ngata $8.5m vs. dishing out $27m for Donkey Kong is a no brainer imo.
My own personal opinion is that Stafford doesn't give them anywhere near the production he should be for the contract they're paying him. Can't pay a guy absurd money just because you don't have an immediate replacement, even if it's your QB. You could pay a journeyman vet probably $4 mil and certainly get more than 25% of Stafford's productivity. I don't think he's a guy that flat out wins games for you. A QB making that kind of money should be, or it's a bad contract.

"There is no question that it's a huge misconception that I didn't want to be here," Suh told the Free Press in an exclusive interview. "I've always wanted to be here, especially growing up (as a person) here, being drafted here and having such a huge warm welcome. I think anybody would be crazy not to want to be at a place that they're superly embraced. There's tons of people in this community that I have gotten to know over time that to me, one, I've created mentors here, people from the business world that have just reached out and wanting to make sure that I'm doing the right things. So for me it was not an easy decision by any means."

Don't know if that passes the sniff test, but.......
I don't doubt he wanted to stay in Detroit, from a personal point of view; I also don't think Detroit was "big" enough for him, from a SportsCenter POV. Miami kind of crossed me up, as I had him mentally ticketed for NY or CA somewhere.
This may be a selfish thing to say, but he fuckin' soaked the Lions for 5 years: he could have taken a few million less and stayed, had he wanted to. I figured he was gone when they didn't have a deal done before the season. I hoped he'd stay, but also hoped his deal didn't kill the salary cap.
Problem officially the Dolphins' now. Good luck getting good players, Miami!

Yeah because you would take a 10 percent pay hit to remain in a cold northern state vs a warm place with no income tax.

Yeah, I would in a heartbeat because of the relationships I've built here... Friends, family, etc. But, 10% isn't nearly as much for me as it is for him. Kind of a silly argument trying to compare the guy that makes 17 million per year to normal people.Dr. Strangelove wrote:
