Now taking recommendations for PC/laptop security
Most recently was using McAfee. With my new lapper I thought I’d go with something better. Will need the entire suite: antivirus/mal- and ransomware/firewall/whatever else I’m forgetting.
I’m looking for ease of use and auto-downloads/updates (which I’m guessing is pretty standard with all security these days). Remember, I’m old and ignorant.
PC Mag gives Norton and Bitdefender highest marks. I used Norton years ago, but I have no experience with Bitdefender. Prefer to download rather than manually install.
Thoughts? Experiences pro/con?

I don't like Norton, every time I have used it it has turned to crap...Eventually it just always wants to run and slows things down, no way to stop it.
I have had good luck with AVG, free version is pretty solid. Also it is a Czech company so it feels nice to support a company based in a place I have personally used as a playground numerous times.

Re: Now taking recommendations for PC/laptop security
I never fully expect a computer to last more than a 2-3 years, I'll avoid anything that seems like a scam link and I am usually fine. My comps run nice and quick for 2-3 years while I do periodic scans with freeware programs like antimalwarebytes. From my experience Norton and Mcafee always bogged down my computer and took up tons of resources and made things actually worse. If you usually run into something serious even paying for things won't stop it, and if you can't fix it yourself with freeware or other tricks then you have to take it in to get serviced. My 2 pennies.
