Sorry you guys are dealing w/this. Bob & I have been fortunate in that the long storm fronts have been breaking up just before hitting us. Barely rained last night, though we may have had some straight line winds. That huge line of orange coming at us a short while ago did the same thing—fractured and then missed this area. IIRC, there’s two more lines of rain on the way; we’ll see how things go later tonight.

BTW, can anyone recommend the best app for real time radar/lightning, or is all radar the same? I’m using the Weather Channel app and while it’s okay, I’m not sure I’m getting the best info. A couple times already this summer I’ve gotten caught in downpours with lightning that wasn’t anywhere on the future radar. That app is free, but I don’t mind paying something if the predictive technology is better.

I don't really have a recommendation, just a gripe that the Weather Channel app is owned/operated by IBM. It's like deceptive weathering.

I use RadarNow. I think it is run by NWS, or at the very least, they only use the NWS radar.
I paid about $5 5 -6 years ago for lifetime premium use and don't regret it.

First wave rolling through. Not that bad but managed to knock power out here. Temp has dropped maybe 15 degrees

That’s part of why I’m looking elsewhere. The app itself always performed well prior to the merge with IBM, but almost immediately after I started seeing “Powered by Watson” the app started crashing. Actually, it almost always happens this way: I try to open the app, except I only get the buffering circle on the front page, and it stays like that til I close it. Then I open it again and it will open up, then freeze, then crash. So I open it a third time and it works. It usually takes three tries about 90% of the time.

DTE's power outage map claims my power is on. Their online system is not taking correspondence to the otherwise.

Gimme sunny and 72° with a breeze every day. Low humidity. San Diego would be great, but too many people, I like my water unsalted, and prefer green instead of desert flora.
I’m just glad I’m not too picky.

You are describing San Francisco and surrounding burbs before Silicon Valley covered all the farms and fruit groves with steel, concrete and asphalt.

Drinking French press coffee.. windows open, soft summer rain.. getting ready for a run, watching the Tour.
not quite "there's a barefoot girl sittin' in the hood of a Dodge, drinkin' warm beer in a soft summer rain"... but it'll do.

Re: Post your current weather status
So, I had some friend up to the cabin near Baldwin which caught every bit of rain (Indian friend with his parents who spoke no English at all), then got a call on Saturday evening from my son that we had a 50+ year old tree come down across the road at the homestead. It was a very busy weekend.
Pic1: daughter #2 standing on the county road to our cabin.
Pic2: the big ass trunk of a tree that crashed down on the neighbor's lawn (I'm still not done with the clean-up)
