handful of muddy spots but you can navigate around them pretty easily.. a few foot paths broken into the woods. I'd say get out there if you can - pretty nice right now.Jake from State Farm wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:Hiked about 6 miles this morning up at Sleepy Hollow. I realize it can't last forever, but 40' s for a high tomorrow.
How are the trails? They drying out pretty well? I think my dog is getting bored walking through just the campground.

Back from a weekly workout at the ELHS track. North wind on the straightaway of the visitors side was tough.

Moved the kid into a new house this morning. Had to wear my lined Carhartt coat. Glorious.

Looks like last night was the last of it. Lows in the mid-40s to 50s forecasted the next two weeks. Just put the plants out. Need to get some seed down, probably next week.

snow on the bridges yesterday morning at the running trail. Nice and cold this morning, though bright sunshine. Might be the last of the decent weather for a while. Weather man saying we could hit 80 next week.

meh, we are approaching mid-May. We've had a good run thus far. Other than running or being on my bike, along with yard work.. I can just hang inside until September.Watch Out Pylon! wrote:70's coming soon. High 70's next Thursday, Suck it Bob!

You really should consider moving to the Keweenaw peninsula (Up North). You could have weather you enjoy 8-9 months a year. Plenty of snow to shovel.Robert J Sakimano wrote:snow on the bridges yesterday morning at the running trail. Nice and cold this morning, though bright sunshine. I feel sorry for the farmer that lives a couple houses down from me. He planted his fields a few days ago and it looks like everything is getting washed away.

Are all those protestors listening to the evil government telling them to evacuate, taking the advice from the government, or trying to fight out off with their ak?
Sorry, super cynical right now. I hope Dow chemical planned for something like this.

Downtown Midland is about 15 feet about the rivers. If is 9 feet under, all of the surrounding area is under. That also means that Dow is completely under water, which, I have no idea what they do there.tGreenWay wrote:Heard downtown Midland might be nine feet underwater by tomorrow.

Wasn’t Dow’s plan just to pollute the Tittabawassee and let things play out on their own? I may be wrong.

My guess is Dow’s disaster plan was written by the same people who wrote the response for the Fukushima nuclear power plants.

Re: Post your current weather status
Midland has always had flood emergency plans but no plan accounts for the Tittabawasee River to crest at 38’. The ‘86 flood it crested at 33’ or 34’.
Within 3 hours the Edenville dam failed, then the Sanford dam downstream failed. The Centerville dam upstream of the Edenville dam was breached after Edenville dam failed.
In ‘86 Dow money (corporate and private) rebuilt the town after ‘86. But now it’s a Dow DuPont operation without the local involvement.

Of course it's a private dam that's collapsed. Good luck.

Brother drove home from the UP. His house is 21ft above the Titabawasssee. Says the water is 1 foot from his house but the basement has five feet of water in it. He works at Dow. Said some of their processes take a week or more to shut down. Could get ugly.

When Rainbow Lake Dam collapsed several years ago they tried to get the MiDNR to rebuild it for them. DNR told them they would but lake would have to be opened up to public access. Rainbow Lake property owners ended up footing the bill.
