Kid was a trooper. Just a shade under 2 years old but she was up for trick or treating in the wet snow. We made it to five houses before she started to get fussy. She scored a sweet bouncy ball that lights up when you bounce it. She was more interested in that than the candy. After we got back I handed out our stockpile of candy like a champ.

The only snafu on the night was one of our jack-o-lanterns had too big of an opening on the front and the wind kept blowing out the candle.

did a few swipes with the 'ol snow shovel this morning. Weird since just yesterday I finished raking leaves up to the curb and put the mower up.

On the road to Chicago for the week. Super duper shitty. We've seen about 30 cars in the ditch so far and we're only to Kalamazoo.

Nothing worse than that drive in this weather. I'd rather walk.

Clearing up a bit. Getting close to Lake Michigan.

I live in Kalamazoo and the side streets were horrible at 11:00 when I drove to the office. It also does not help that I need new tires on the old truck.

Getting some snow but hoping for a lot more. I’m ready to ski.

Just a lot going on this year, into early next. I’ve never minded clearing snow, especially with a snow thrower, but it’s still tough on my back. I’ve also noticed I’m clearing the drive and sidewalks later and later, and that’s not fair to people walking. Might try it for a year and reassess next season. That’s how I’m leaning right now.

Thought I'd found a gem.  Some folks on Nextdoor recommended a company for snowblower/lawn equipment tune-ups.  Guy will come to your house and do the tune-up right there without hauling the equipment away for 2-3 weeks, and the generally outrageous charge for picking up and dropping off.

Didn't expect snow this soon so put off calling him until today.  Was bummed when he said he wouldn't tune-up my optimist because it's 20 years old.

Did some calling around this afternoon and found a place that will do the job inexpensively, including pick up and delivery.
