The director of a judicial activist group has written U.S. Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Samuel Alito a letter demanding they recuse themselves from upcoming Supreme Court cases concerning LGBT rights, after the pair posed for pictures with the president of anti-gay group National Organization for Marriage (NOM).

when not sexually assaulting women/girls, it looks like Kavanaugh (and Alito) enjoy hanging around with anti-LGBT hate groups.

As you to first question, not so much. As to your second, nothing. But the point is that we convict based on politics and downplay based on athletics. MC gets the benefit of the doubt simply because he played at MSU. Had it been a Republican, or a former UM athlete, the reaction would have been much different. I guess more of an observation about the power of sports.

it's a weird video.

obviously, it's disturbing.. looks like she tries to run away 2-3 times. From what, we'll never really know. Of course, dragging a woman against her will into a hotel room is very hard to watch, but his body language didn't appear to be one of aggression. We've all seen the grainy security videos of acts of violence against women. This, in and of itself, didn't appear to be that.

and did anyone else notice the person in the white van? He/she was sitting there, appeared to be watching the whole series of events.. at one point he opens his door. I'm wondering if he testified at the trial as to what he saw and heard? I don't think it was the lady from the news clip (though it could've been).

the whole event is pretty nauseating but putting the video out without proper context that was presented under oath in a court of law is pretty irresponsible.

but it get clicks and subsequent commentary, which then drives ratings... the media's primary goal.

the difference is the video was introduced, examined, cross-examined under oath as evidence. I respect the legal system. Maybe you don't... which is fine.

The video was weird, as I stated. The video was disturbing, as I stated and the video was nauseating, as I stated. I'm not sure what else you want me to do.

As for Kavanaugh, he's absolutely a sexual predator. No doubt about it in my mind. The fact that he coaches his daughter's basketball team should put the entire town he lives in on high alert.

So I don’t know if anyone was paying attention to argument before the court on Tuesday. But it was regarding whether gay folks and trans folks should be protected under the civil rights act. The crux of the argument is that the words “because of sex” mean what they mean and if we have a bunch of textualists on the court now, it should cover gay and trans (or queer or nonconforming) folks. It was a good argument and should have pinned the conservative justices into a corner where they have to decide if they are actually “letter of the law” types or only when it fits in their framework. But instead, justices on both sides started obsessing about public restrooms which none of the cases even mentioned, and LITERALLY WOULD NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT IT.

It was a shitshow and illustrated just how reality doesn’t matter in the face of bias and conventional belief.

I don't think his re-election prospects were neck and neck at the time he said that, and if it was before (or in the early days of) Corona, the prospects for Trump were very different.

I'm just saying that he would be under intense pressure by the media and getting called out for his hypocrisy. Would he risk re-election over it? Do we really think he has that kind of moral conviction?
Maybe if he falls way behind like Trump is, he will do it as a Fuck You to everyone, or gets so far ahead that it won't matter. But at the moment he is struggling due to his ties to Trump. I think it's a toss up at best whether he would risk that.
