Espn: “SELL: Shea Patterson as Michigan's savior
Ole Miss looked just fine without him. Michigan looked like the same old Michigan with him. What does that mean for Patterson? Maybe it's too early to give up on the guy after one game, but let's just say history isn't on his side here. The silver lining is John O'Korn, Tate Forcier and Jake Rudock run a wonderful support group with light snacks and tea.”

Re: Official 2018 General College Football Thread
It's fun that they lost and I'm glad and all but straight take. Shea was better at QB than Speight or O'korn or Rudock. He's no savior, by any means. I don't know the conference QBs up and down but I'd definitely rather have Haskins (watched him today, very impressive), McSorley, or Lewerke. But he was good and will give them a better chance to win.
I felt their run blocking was pretty good in the first half but they got away from running, because they were down by 3 scores in the 2h. Their pass blocking in the first half was atrocious but it was better in the second half.
On Defense, Winovich was formidable. Much better than Bush (in and out with cramps/injury) or Gary. Maybe ND's RT sucked, but Winovich absolutely owned him all night.
At any rate, that's still a good team, we will have a tough time beating them. And so will Wisconsin, and Penn State and Ohio State. And Northwestern. But I have a hard time seeing a 2013 MSU lose to ND and run the table type of scenario. They're bound for 3-4 losses and some attrition and purgatory.

All great points. They actually didn't score a touchdown running their "offense". Got one in Special teams and one running pretty much a two minute drill with ND playing safe.

Probably the best team Harbaugh's had, but they're likely still a 3-4 loss team. You can't win if you can't run the ball. 68 yards rushing against a new defensive coordinator.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:It's fun that they lost and I'm glad and all but straight take. Patterson looked pretty much like every other average QB I saw yesterday. Maybe it was the way ND evolved after he went out, but McCaffery looked at least as good.
They still have NW, Nebraska (I think?), Wisconsin, MSU, Penn State and Ohio State. I think they go 3-3 in those games, at best.

He looked better running the ball, which may have been game/situation related. I think they have more confidence in Patterson's arm.
I would have left McCaffrey in though.
