Yeah, this is a win as it sits now, and Trump can even claim it as a win (though too much crowing about it might be counter-productive).  Sure, there will probably be more terrorist/proxy attacks, but those were stepped up a lot in the last 6 months anyway.  The last few days were hardly the first shots of this conflict.

This. Most have been to focused on what Trump ate for breakfast everyday, but this has been brewing for a while. Before the strike Iranians were protesting against their government and Iraqis were protesting about increased Iranian influence in their country/government. Iran has been poking the bear for a while trying to get us to react... and it worked. Now both Iraqis and Iranians hate us again, instead of their own governments. At least for now. Till they realize they still have no economy and basic needs.

Just GTFO and let them sort it out.

It's amazing how many people feel that way. Was talking to a friend about all this and he was just commenting how after 17+ years of this stuff everyone has fatigue from these endless and costly wars. Unfortunately I don't think we will leave, can't see us wanting to give up those bases in Iraq anytime soon.

Lend-lease was approved by Congress, but there was a lot more than that, such as escorting the ships through the dangerous North Atlantic, planes helping to spot U-boats for British warships, and then ultimately the order in the fall for US ships themsleves to shoot on sight any German ships/subs. Honestly, though, you could go back to before the Civil War and find cases of Presidents ordering acts of war without a Congressional declaration of War.

I just get this feeling that he is becoming more and more unstable. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this happened and built up during the congressional break. Like he was utterly bored. Like he demanded someone give him some actionable intelligence. Like he just wanted to pull a trigger. His foreign policy is scatter brained at best. Get out of endless wars. Now get into one. Get out of Syria send troops home and abandoned the Kurds. Then build up in SA and the Middle East. Mind boggling. Just recently announced a strategy of getting out of these types of situations then flat out creates one and as we speak, building and increasing troop deployments.

I apologize for any wild speculation on my part. I should have referred to the clearly defined strategy in place. We should use the complete denuclearization of North Korea as our guiding light when doubting Mr Trump.

I agree there’s the potential. I’m wondering though. If I’m correct there’s literally nothing in place to stop them from developing their program now? Like at least before he withdrew from the icky Obama deal there was something in place. He keeps bouncing back and forth between Iranian influence in Iraq and the Iranian nuke program. I know focus isn’t his strong suit. It’s kinda like the Ukraine thing. He just wants an announcement of investigations. Couldn’t care less if there actually are any. I'm not an expert, but there was nothing in place before the air strike except sanctions. I don't think anything has changed there.
