He's going to be back, he's going to have his same staff. We are going to be better on the offensive line, a RB rotation will be better, our receivers will be faster. Our QB? Who knows. Our defensive line will not be as good. Our LB's will be o.k. and our db's might take a step back or be the same. We were two 4th and longs away from being 9-4 last year. All that said, I'll be at 4 or 5 games, and I'll be a big Dantonio cheerleader. He once called Tressel a "tragic figure". That is becoming more ironic. I hope he wins and makes a fool out of a ton of us in our thoughts as to what the team is capable of next year.

I will never understand how people can hate Mark Dantonio. The shit people say about him is completely over the top.

It all stems from unrealistic expectations. I'm happy with 7-8 win seasons. Anything over that is gravy to me. My main frustration is that UofM is man handling us and truth be told I think they are going to kick our ass again next year. That bothers me.

Congratulations. I think he deserves it. I wish we'd win more football games again, but I enjoyed the time we did. Fortunately or unfortunately it seems I'm busier and busier in the fall doing things with the kids.

I dont' want to get into semantics. If I used "hate" and you needed to point that out, and say, "I love and respect him, I just want him to retire" that's fine. I've read that about a billion times. But, if you go to other MSU sites, sometimes the verbiage is not as kind as that. I get you can call someone incompetent, behind the times, mediocre and still say, "but I don't hate him". So, whatever. I would bet that there are some, perhaps many, that live so vicariously through MSU's football success that they do, "hate" him right now. But I don't have a list of names.

I don't know what kind of percentage it is as an accurate representation of an overall fanbase. i think you're right in that the general fanbase is a lot more laid back and not as intense as those that call into radio shows or, LIKE US, are on the internet talking about MSU football and basketball. I wonder if there has ever been any kind of data as to what the percentage is fans calling and posting vs. general fan who goes to the game, tailgates, goes home.

I feel that a vast majority don’t hate him. By vast I’m saying like 95%. The “hate” faction isn’t relevant and not worth bringing up as a counterpoint or justification for anything. Be it an extension, retention bonus etc. As far as the bonus goes he probably deserves it based on what he delivered in the past. As far as recent history goes there’s some stuff that’s highly questionable in my eyes. I think a lot of us are in love with that past and it maybe clouds the reality of what we are now as a program. But it’s human nature.

Yeah, there is a bunch of over the top stuff... Pretty sure most of it is from "fans" that have zero perspective on MSU's program... but it's out there.
As an early 90's graduate my football coach had multiple NCAA violations, vacated seasons, loud public squabbles with the Administration, yearly flirtations with the NFL, internal Athletic dept. power grabs AND loosing seasons. His actions affected the bad decisions regarding the football program for decades... And he is still beloved by many.

Dantonio has had none of that. Got the final four, won a rose bowl, multiple big tens....

It's the perceived "cool" thing to do on the interwebs. The more extreme and vociferous they can get in expressing their displeasure, the more they can "prove" what great fans they are because it means that they care so much about winning. It isn't an MSU internet fan thing, it is worldwide. I see it all the time from idiots all over the world.

Not referring to anyone here on tSwill, btw, or at least not based on posts here. I can't say whether any of you post more extreme and over the top elsewhere.

Interesting thought. As far as call in shows go, and I have no proof I’m correct, I believe every radio show host or producers have people they set up to call in to act irrational or “typical” to further segments or give hosts material for segments. You’ll never convince me otherwise lol.
