Multiple people reported that the deal with Fickell was, "Done" and it obviously was not. He is not the coach at MSU.

Colorado coach Mel Tucker and Michigan State have agreed in principle to make him the new head football coach at MSU, people with knowledge of the matter told The Athletic on Tuesday night. After the 48-year-old Cleveland native turned down initial interest late last week, MSU power brokers came back repeatedly to Tucker’s reps with an offer that was impossible to ignore.

People with knowledge of Tucker’s deal with the Spartans said it doubles his Colorado coaching salary pool (which was $3.15 million in 2019), includes a substantial increase to the Michigan State strength and conditioning staff budget and program resources and will more than double Tucker’s Colorado salary, which is around $2.7 million.

I’ve already posted about him a couple days ago when I said I really wouldn’t mind him. It’s in some thread. I remember him from coaching with him at a camp.

It’s in some thread. I’m just at the point where I’m so digested with our board and fellow Spartans that willingly carry water for the freep it’s just taken the steam out of me.

I hope he’s cool with the culture.

Negotiating a contract in principal to hire Tucker is a brilliant skullfuck move by AD Beekman (and probably President Stanley).

After the shitstorm Trustee Brianna Scott ignited last week with Joel Ferguson egging her on, what is she going to say now? Oh no. While you did hire a qualified minority candidate his salary and coaching salary pool numbers are too high?

No way I was ever going to be on board with Bert. Although the idea of being able to flick Mrs. Bert in the nose for being so annoying did have some appeal.
