How is it getting auto-deposited in people's account? I haven't been paying attention. No idea if we qualify.

I don't need a ton to make me happy. I bought a new pair of running shoes this morning. Been ordering some merch from some artists to hopefully keep them afloat. No rock shows to spend money on. Some beer and whiskey.. I don't really do a lot else.

First of all, I'm not a baller. Average house, average income, wife and kids are average. Never take exotic vacations, pay for four average cars. Wear average clothes. I'm retired from one profession and take income from another when needed for bills college, shit. I'm Mr. Average. Will die that way.
O.K?
But we don't qualify THIS year. Know why? Cause I suck. Wife said Since we don't go over to the summer place that much lately, lets make our backyard nice. (it's not, my neighbors behind me are crack heads and play in a rock band that sucks) Still need to re-fence it. But we built a pretty big deck last fall and put a hot tub in it.
Step one of Dwags sucking at life.
step two. wife was anxious about the money I pulled out of one account cause it was sizable for the deck and tub and some other shit. So, she wanted to know if we're gonna get thumped in taxes even though I always take the right share out when getting a disbursement. So, she makes a tax appointment in February when we usually go first week of April. Step two why I suck at life.
Step three. These fuckers are using this years tax returns (2019). If you used every year before this year we qualify. Not this year because of the disbursements. Had we kept our normal tax appointment they would have used 2018 and I'd have got a check. Step three of why I suck at life.
I guess what I'm saying is. Floyd, I could really use a fucking burger.

Not a baller, but we won't be receiving any payment this year. Our combined income was over 200K for the past couple of years. This year our income will be well below $150,000. The wife is self-employed and won't make shit this year. I am retired, my income will just be what I withdrawal from retirement plans, plus the pension I receive. I will get my stimulus payment(s) when I file my taxes next year, or so they tell me.

No. If your income was below $150,000 (MFJ) you will get the full payment this year. If it was less than $198,000 you will get a partial payment.InTenSity wrote:I already filed, so I have to wait until next year to find out if I qualify?

Re: Check In Here When You've Received Your "Stimulus"
It should be noted that if you income is over the limits this year (2020) but was less than that last year, you will have to pay the money back when you file in 2021 (current law, it could but likely won't change). The reality is most people's income will be less this year. But if you have some control over when you take you income (like Dwags and I) you might want to watch what you take.

I’m pretty sure that that’s incorrect.
The opposite is true- if you do not get the stimulus based on your old return but your 2020 return shows that you should have, then you will get it next year. But if it shows you got more than you should, you won’t have to pay it back

What if my finances or my family change by the time I file my 2020 taxes next year?
This is a unique tax credit in that you’re getting these checks now, for a tax return you’ll file next year. A lot of Americans will find that, by the time they’re filing their 2020 tax return, their circumstances have changed in one of the two ways that affect your stimulus check amount — you could gain or lose a dependent, for example, or your income could change significantly.
Rest assured that you won’t be penalized one way or another when you file your taxes for 2020. Anyone who newly qualifies will get the money they’re owed in the form of a refundable tax credit (a higher tax refund or a lower tax bill), and anyone who no longer qualifies will not get their money clawed back

Oh, I'm going to qualify like a motherfucker next year. I have a wife that is as honest as the day is long and is a bean counter for my business. She doesn't let me take cash on hand and buy groceries without recording it. Anyway, I'm so pissed right now, I'll make sure my pull out of the incoming money makes us qualify for a bridge card. All they will see is my pension and my wife's income. (I won't do that, but I'm pissed about life right now)

Sorry Wags, but skeletor believes in means testing. There's no way that upper middle class folks could be struggling with any of their finances right now, so it makes good sense to make everything a little less efficient so that we can means test.

I believe you are correct. Form what I read earlier, the way the law was written, most people speculated that it would have to be paid back. The Tax Foundation is about as reliable as it gets when it comes to a tax opinion, but I don't believe the IRS has issued any formal guidance.

Apply for an SBA payroll loan. She should qualify. Check with your bank, they should have an online application you can fill out.

Isn't pretty much everything in the "social safety net" based on means testing? Since like forever? Food stamps, unemployment, Social Security, etc. Does "Skeletor" control all of it? Past, present, & future? That's pretty impressive.
