It’s not about the looting.

It’s about the deaths of unarmed black people.
When a black man says “that might have been me” he’s not just being rhetorical. It literally could be him. At any time. It doesn’t matter how much money he has or apparent respect because of his career. Every black persons has a TRUE story about being profiled and most have feared for their lives.

Those businesses have insurance. Those cops have body armor and the power of the state behind them. They aren’t the ones to be worrying about.

And if you are worrying about them, it’s deliberate avoidance of the facts. I get it. It’s painful to look at America and be forced to see what’s been going on while privilege allowed you to live basically worry free. But it’s got to be a realization that all of us come to one way or another.

Focusing on the looting and rioting and clucking your tongue is just your way of avoiding seeing the humanity in people that you’ve long since stuck in a box. I heard an organizer yesterday say “We’ve peacefully protested and nothing has changed. We’ve burned it down and nothing has changed. The problem isn’t the police. They are trying to do their jobs. The problem isn’t the protesters, they are trying to do what’s right. The problem is the system. And that’s what needs to change. But I don’t know how we get there.” The system she was talking about it the systematic racism of our government. The system that makes it ok for white men with semiautomatic rifles to storm a government building and scream in the faces of police, while a black man is handcuffed and murdered via asphyxiation from a knee to the neck for allegedly passing a phony bill. People always say that “the system is broken” but more and more we’re realizing that the system is functioning exactly as it was intended. Once that veil is lifted, there’s no turning back.

Hell no.  Just pointing out the obvious because most Dems on this board are incredibly dense and refuse to admit their fellow Dems are the ones doing most of the damage.

Your guy just ordered an attack against peaceful protestors in order to do a mother fucking photo op at that church. Fuck you straight to hell if you're going to support him in ordering the US military to attack unarmed Americans.

I'm not asking for sympathy, because I know these conversations are a lot more difficult in other households, but today one of my 4th graders' classmates shared an image of a masked black protester with a do not fear me caption on their class zoom call. And I had to explain racism to him. And what happened in Minnesota, and what has happened over and over again in this country. Sucks having to do that to a pure, innocent mind. I've always raised my kids to not see color. One could probably argue that identity is important but I think for a mostly white family that's the way to go. We are extremely fortunate to live in a diverse area where that has been possible. My kid is somewhat immature for his age, but he was shocked. He literally thought that racism ended with the Civil Rights Movement. Yes, I choked up during this conversation, especially trying to explain what happened to Mr. Floyd.

always sucks when kids are forced to grow up way too early regarding the ugly side of the world.

What's worse, as we can see in this thread, is when the ugliness is taught at home and then brought to our kids, despite our best intentions.

Just saw the looting pics in Manhattan. I feel like the protests have just about run its course at this point. It’s going to be impossible to do these without the opportunists and the black bloc anarchists and white supremacists fucking these up. I’d move to phase two at this point, organize boycotts, organize to vote and other intelligent creative ways to get the message out there. Amazingly and I know some aren’t want to hear it but I still have a lot of Bernie friends (actual acquaintances) that still can’t even decide if they are going to vote for Trumps opponent. Organizing the left to vote is like herding cats. Not only that there’s probably a lot we can do to organize resources to make sure poor inner city folk are able to vote. Organize transportation to those that have distant polling places, assist with getting absentee ballots, assist those that have long work shifts on Election Day at their minimum wage jobs...it’s going to be a turnout game in a few swing state’s and it’s going to be a nail biter. Most important election of our lives and if Trump wins game over.

Missed this earlier.

You're joking, correct?

He has literally the exact same basis for his claims as you do, brah.

No, I have a LOT more basis

A) It has been one of the lynch pins of Russian intelligence operations to sow divisions among adversaries. They have a whole course on it in their training, with intense instruction on psychology and manipulation techniques. In the 60s they wrote letters to media, claiming to be KKK members, inciting racial tensions. They also sent bombs to black leaders. They also played the other side, teaming with militant black groups and supporting/inciting tensions on that side. This has all been well documented.

B) One of pantry's boys, Senator Marco Rubio, Republican, and Chairman of the Senate Intelligence committee, said that at least three foreign adversaries were stoking things on social media. He also said that both left wing and right wing groups are being incited by them(though the widespread indications from everyone except Trump is that it is predominantly right wing). Still, give Rubio a bit of credit for explicitly saying that right wing groups are at least part of the problem. Want more from Rubio talking specifically about Russia? A week ago, but before all this blew up too much, he said, that Russia's efforts to tap into the divisions in this country is like lighting a match and that their efforts have "succeeded beyond Putin's wildest dreams."

There, I've provided specific historical precedent and general 100 years of a country's M.O., combined with claims from one of your side's biggest "stars". What do you got, Pantry?
