Loyer can coach him up during time outs because Tum tum is out with covid too
Are you sure Tum Tim’s not out because he has one of those traveling good time revival shows and it conflicts with the game?

I'm not real big on the leveraging scholarships thing and think this is a bad look. But I'm also thinking he is more frustrated right now as a head coach than maybe ever before.

You probably would not be surprised to find out that a lot of "fans" are celebrating that quote. In reality I don't think it means anything different for Izzo. I think he pretty much has an exit interview with every player every year and outlines expectations going forward including their potential role. If they aren't satisfied with that potential role (Bess, Clark, Kaminsky, etc) they are free to transfer. I think this speaks more to effort-related stuff that has gone on this year. But I suspect as you said, some of that is frustrating for him because he's not sure if he can legitimately assign blame or not due to everything that is going on with the virus.

Re: tOfficial 2020-2021 MSU Basketball Thread
The results certainly haven't been there this year. If Izzo perceives that a lack of effort or work ethic is partly to blame, then encouraging some underperformers to transfer might be a better fit for all involved. I would find it more troubling if there weren't a bit of a roster shakeup after the worst season in 3 decades.

I think he's (still) trying to light a fire under a few guys for this year.
The only difference (related to his comments) in this offseason is that if Bates reclassifies, someone else has gotta go (other than Henry).

Fuck it, why not OTPT? Does he have any eligibility. Nobody can tell me he’d do any worse at point than what we’re running out there.

This is a harsh and rude reply to your arch nemesis. Next time, go a little easier on Turtleneck, please.

No way OTPT would put down the ganja in favor of basketball. Plus, as he said, he’s too much of a degenerate gambler and that would no doubt lead to an epic scandal.

MSU had 12 of 15 players test positive between August and February. Is that the norm in CBB? It seems crazy that 80% of the team tested positive at some point.
I think the post-season meetings are good. That kind of transparency is important from coaches, and I am glad you pointed it out. It makes me think his comments relate to annual discussions he has with all his players. But I am not sure what you can expect from this team given the Covid numbers. It's such a throw away season.

Yeah I think we're aligned here. It's easy to dismiss from the outside and say "Michigan's handling it just fine, why can't we??!". But if you give that just a little bit of thought it's preposterous. We have no idea what these kids and coaches are going through. This season is a distraction from real life for all of us, and shouldn't be viewed as anything else. In my opinion.

Twelve players out of fifteen tested positive? Seems like Izzo has three players who really aren’t trying very hard.

This article says 13. I wonder what the average rate is in CBB, and if MSU has had abnormally higher numbers.
