Re: Grading Michigan State Football
People often ask me why I do it, especially after such a disappointing game. Yes, it's difficult to watch an opposing team's great plays over and over to analyze every nuance of every play. But I do it to expand the universe's available knowledge of the sport of football. And also for the chicks.
Game nine grade: fail.

Game eight officials' grade: A++
Considering how antagonistic the exchanges were between Spartan fans and Joel Klatt as the scum game got closer, I’m wondering how Pervis graded Klatt’s performance.
Game eight Joel Klatt's grade: 4

He’s gone full Sparty since scum leapt over us in the CFP. Will that have any effect on his future Pervis Grades, Pervis?

Sorry it took so long. I watched over and over in hopes that the grade wasn't what I feared it would be.
Game eleven grade: fail.
Okay, now I'm ready for Penn State.

Re: Grading Michigan State Football
DWags and Gus are being too tough with their grading. Some sort of weighted scale needs to be considered, specifically due to the team far outperforming preseason expectations. I’m not saying go easy, but something with a dose of reality needs to be stirred into the evaluation recipe.

I agree. We were basically like a middle schooler who had been in a coma for a few years, waking up and getting 80-some percent of the answers right on the SAT.

I’m giving the team an A and tGreenway an E for not going to home games. (If you have, I apologize and change your grade to an A+)

Was going with B due to the "Exceeded Expectations" on the behavioral part of the grade card.

That Purdue loss really hurt the final grade, at 11/12 the team would have an A-

I bet we wouldn't have. OSU and/or UM would be ranked ahead of us (and the way we got pummeled by OSU, it would be hard to argue with).

OSU 10-2. State 11-1 with the tie-breaker over UM?MiamiSpartan wrote:The Pantry wrote:To think we would have been in the title game except for the Purdue loss, plus being the only team to beat UM (coming back from 16 down)...A-

Does out of conference count? I don't know. I had seen somewhere that in the scenario you mentioned that it would go to UM as they would likely be higher ranked, and the head to head among the 3 would cancel each other. But maybe that was wrong to not account for OOC.The Pantry wrote:OSU 10-2. State 11-1 with the tie-breaker over UM?MiamiSpartan wrote:

It doesn’t. My understanding from I believe intensity is that it would come down to the records of the three out of division games that all three teams played, and with us having northwestern and Nebraska we wouldn’t have a good shot at that

Re: Grading Michigan State Football
I thought the B1G got rid of using the poll rankings in these decisions?
With OSU/Penn State/Michigan/Nebraska all being national favorites of the people who vote in polls, using poll rankings is a joke.

Okay, they didn't, and it is utterly stupid to use polls to determine anything as the "popular" teams always have an advantage.
