here's the video - it wasn't d'Huez, it was Ventoux.
it's downright bizarre to watch.. imagine being a spectator and you're camped out, waiting on the Tour to head you're direction and you look up and see the yellow jersey running up the road.

I don't remember that but I am surprised that stuff doesn't happen more often there are some compact moments in the race with spectators, media and team people

2.5k to go there was three UAE riders, three Jumbo and three for Thomas (don't know his team) and I thought there was a chance. They all played their tactics perfect, including the lone breakaway Kamna. They all went full gas.
The whole Nordique household (I've brainwashed my kids to watch the Tour) was on their feet tooting for Vindegaard (rooting for chaos/underdog). Mother fucking Teday was just better.
Interesting that UAE couldn't shake at least one of the teams above.Gotta respect Teday for taking maters into his own hands.

yeah, Tadej was just next level yesterday. Watching Vingegaard trying to turn the pedals in the last 50 meters looked just painful.Nordic wrote:2.5k to go there was three UAE riders, three Jumbo and three for Thomas (don't know his team) and I thought there was a chance. The most physically and mentally difficult sporting event in the world. No doubt about it.
Hills today, back in the mountains tomorrow. I'm about to go out on a ride now, get back for the last 40 K.

I suspect a Frenchman will try to be at the top of their game on Thursday up d'Huez. Also Bastille Day.. would be great to see.

Back in the saddle today. I feel like today's stage is deceptively difficult, then leading to two days in the high mountains.
This feels like when the Tour begins.

As a fan I hate rest days, screws up my nightly viewing . But they definitely deserved it after that last few stages. Looking forward to getting back in saddle (my couch) tonight.
Some thoughts from last weekend. UAE as a whole didn't look as strong as Jumbo and Ineos the last few stages, which could make things interesting. Tedaj only had one domestique entering the start of the final climb of Stage 9. Jumbo had a handful. Stage 7 was similar. Something weird is still going to have to happen to Tedaj, he is too strong, but I'm pulling for Jumbo to put the screws to UAE and get Vingegaard in the hunt the next few days.

I would like to see someone get within striking distance, so maybe one of the teams you mentioned can get their GC up there via some attacks in the mountains.

yeah, the Tour page classifies today's stage as 'hilly' and by TdF standards, I guess it is. Still some good categorized climbs. I believe the final one is a cat 2.aualum06 wrote:Final climb looks legit

Craziness out there today. Just some incredible climbing.
Also, I watched the first 20 K, went on a two hour bike ride, came back and the boys still had 41 K to go.

8K to go, wondering if Barguil can hold on.
Quintana having a great tour (and a good day today). The yellow group looking strong.
They're gonna start hitting parts of the mountains where vegetation has a hard time growing.

what a day.. one of the greatest spectacles in all of sport on the slopes of d'Huez.
how about the defense of the yellow? Sepp Kuss gets an extra glass of champagne at dinner for his efforts in pulling Vingegaard along, despite the Pogacar attack. And watching the Maillot Jaune cover all of Tadej's attacks - wow.
they could not get rid of Sepp! Love live Sepp!

Pogacar is running out of time to drop Vingegaard.
I feel like he has a couple of days in the Pyrenees on the Peyregourde or Hautacam to drop him, or yellow is out of the question. He can't make up 2+ mins in the ITT.

Last of the mountain stages today. The boys roll into Paris Sunday. If anyone (Pogacar) wants to make a move, it's today.
Looking less likely, though. Tadej gonna have to rely on Vingegaard to crack today.
Two HC climbs, including Hautacam.
The best thing about summer.

Vigegaard playing it perfect. Seems like he has more in the tank than Tadej. One big long HC finish today.

Awesome stage. Vindegaard almost wipes out. Pogacar does wipe out. Blood dripping down his legs. Vindegaard waiting for him (unlike Contador vs Schleck).
And then Wout Wout Wout! Taking a pull for the ages. Fucking machine. Most exciting/my favorite rider of the tour this year.
That was a fun stage.

yes, yesterday's stage certainly cemented what we figured after Wednesday. I was actually pulling for Pogacar the last week or so, as I was wanting to see some genuine battles in the mountains, maybe 15 seconds separating them going into the ITT tomorrow, but Vingegaard definitely won/deserves the Maillot Jaune.
also, big respect to Jonas yesterday climbing Hautacam. I think it's incumbent on the yellow to defend the yellow, not just stick to Pogacar's wheel - so when he attacked on the last climb, it was him paying homage to all the great champions before him. Put the pedal down and earn it - show the world why you're in yellow.
