Haven't seen her recently. No idea why someone as attractive as she was would have their face fucked with. Fighting age with surgery rarely works well.AvgMSUJoe wrote:Watching "You People" on Netflix. Julia Louis-Dreyfuss got work done on her face. Unfortunate. You sure about that? I just looked at current pics on her insta page and she looks pretty much the same, including wrinkles. •Maybe• she’s had some Botox/filler work done, but def not a lot, at least by Hollywood standards. I think she still looks pretty freaking great.

This. In addition. Build it out mostly how she wants. But add a sweet bike room. Which you will need to fill with bikes, parts and whatnot. Win-Win.

So after a bunch of competition on the floor, that's all that separates two squads? Two tenths of a point?

So after a bunch of competition on the floor, that's all that separates two squads? Two tenths of a point?
It is pretty simple, actually. A match is comprised of four events - vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Each team has six gymnasts do each event (also called a rotation), the lowest score of the six is dropped.
In theory each gymnast starts with a score of 9.5, but that can be bumped to 10.0 by adding optional more difficult moves. Most college routines have a starting score of 9.9 or 10.0. Points are deducted for any errors (bad form, bobbles, steps on landing, and falls) during the routine. Most of the errors are small and most college gymnasts have pretty clean routines, so unless they fall off a beam or something the scores are typically in the 9.8 range. You best gymnast will be 9.9 or better, the weaker ones 9.7 or so. Figure an average score of 9.8 x 5 and most rotations score around 49 points.
So yes, the scores are typically very close, or seemingly so. A match score of 194 to 198 looks close, but in reality that is pretty far apart.
The individual all around champion is the highest scoring individual who competed in all four events. Teams have gymnasts who specialize in one or two events which makes the scores even closer.
FWIW, college gymnastics is scored easier than Olympic gymnastics. It is basically equivalent Junior Olympic level 10 (the highest Junior Olympic level).

Nope. Don’t understand at all. Ask Nordic if, after a decade of watching, he knows how dance competitions are scored. Same stuff. Never understood it.

Most likely he was let go because he might have had health issues. If the company has a life insurance policy, they probably didn't want to pay it out.Dendrobates wrote:The Pantry wrote:Company let a guy in my department go couple months ago. Mid 60's and had health issues.

Cynical yes, but also VERY unlikely. First off, most employer provided life insurance is limited to 50K - the cost is taxable income after that. Also, I am not aware of any companies who are self insured for life insurance, they pay group rates to an insurance company.InTenSity wrote:Most likely he was let go because he might have had health issues. If you want to go down that path, many larger companies ARE self insured for medical insurance. The plan is administered by an insurer, but the company's cost is based on claims of its employees (and families) on the plan. There is almost always a stop loss amount but those can be very high. So theoretically they could cut an employee lose for excess medical claims.
FWIW, even if he was terminated months ago, he could still be on the company plan under COBRA for up to 36 months.

Ahh, ok. The company I work for has LI for 2X our salary. I'm not even sure there is a cap on it. I checked on the ADP website that shows our benefits and I'm well over $50k if I die.MSU addict wrote:Cynical yes, but also VERY unlikely. Re: Random Ramblings
There isn't a "cap" per se, but if you provide over 50K in life insurance the cost of amounts over 50K are taxable income. Your W-2 wages will be more than you actually received in wages and the amount should be detailed in box 12 of your W-2 under code C I believe. It is just a hassle for most employers especially if you have an older defined benefit pension plan still in existence - so many employers have opted to just providing the 50K.InTenSity wrote:Ahh, ok. If you do look at your W-2 you can see the cost of GTL is likely less than you might expect and not something that would make you let an employee go over.
Edit: Thinking about further, I am retired but in my 30 years with my former employer there were less than a dozen active employee deaths. One of those people worked directly for me and her life insurance premium was in the 100's of dollars but I know for a fact that her medical bills were in the millions (we were self insured with a 250K stop loss amount).
