Random Ramblings
Pets are good for the kids, though.

If it helps, it probably doesn’t, but if it does then I have always found that the lead up to tomorrow is the hard part. Once it’s done, well it’s done and you’re certainly making the right choice just given what you’ve done to avoid this. He’ll be at peace and not in anymore pain, and you’ll know you did everything you could and made the right choice in the end.Dendrobates wrote:We're putting our cat Casper down tomorrow (pic in avatar). The hubby and I are already a mess today, as we came to that decision this morning. I get it, but it's still amazing how much more emotional this shit is sometimes, versus a close family member that may pass.
We've spent around 7k the past 2 months trying to save him. We thought we managed to buy him another year or 2. But he's done.
Our girls love this cat so much, and he has adored them from day 1. It's going to be hard on them as well. Fuck man, this sucks and we haven't even done it yet.

tGreenWay wrote:Dendro, I’m so sorry you and the fam are going through this. I’m in agreement with Travis and Floyd. Once the decision has been made, the waiting is brutal. I went through this earlier in the year and once it was over, there was almost a sense of relief knowing we did right by our dog. If you can, find comfort in knowing you gave Casper everything he could have ever wanted.

Re: Random Ramblings
He ended up passing around 12:30am today. My girls got to say goodbye. My 6 year really struggled with it. My almost 3 year old has asked lots of questions, and of course is trying to figure it out.
The things that got me that they said:
6 year old: I wish God would bring him back.
Almost 3 year old: I wish he was alive so mommy won't be so sad.
We should get his ashes back tomorrow or Thursday.
RIP Casper. You were an amazing cat.

Wife and I ate there Friday night. And I shared with her that, in the 40 years I’ve been going there I’ve never once eaten a.Topopo salad. It looks too hard to eat.

It’s a lot easier to eat when it’s takeout because they squish it down between two paper plates. Haven’t had it since pre COVID.

you'll get mad love from your server if you unfold napkins on the table, almost like a mini-table cloth, as they bring it to your table.DWags wrote:Nordic wrote:El Az fo’ dinner

it's tasty but can get messy.
I've never understood it's designation as a 'salad' - it's basically a (somewhat) unique take on nachos but, meh, whatever they wanna call it.

I just heard that last week about the closing, and how it had been going downhill. I don't think I've been there in about 4-5 years. Too bad, it was once a great little market.

Been going there on and off 40 years depending on where I lived. Their meat counter was packed with waiting customers years back. Sort of the prototype for Nino Salvaggio's and others now.Floyd Robertson wrote:The Pantry wrote:Hey, Floyd. Remember Antonio's at 17 & Ryan? Closed up for good last week. Amazon is amazing. Ordered a new remote identical to the original yesterday morning for under $7. Got delivered late yesterday afternoon. Put fresh batteries in and was good to go.

The Pantry wrote:Ever have a TV remote fail? Happened Saturday. Didn't get dropped or anything. It just failed. Wasn't the batteries. The only button on the entire thing that worked was the back button, so I had my choice of IFC or Sundance. Only one button/dial on the TV itself, which only allowed adjusting the volume. Had to pull the plug on the back of the set to turn it off. First world problem.

At least Heat waited until October. Forget if there is Thanksgiving stuff here, but hope the Christmas stuff doesn't start until December.Cameron wrote:One day of the spider and shit and I already can't wait for November.

For some strange reason when I broke my second tape measure this month, I thought of this thread. The first one was a Craftsman that was well over 20 years old, it did not owe me anything. The second was Crescent/Lufkin that was less than a year old. That one kinda pissed me off.tGreenWay wrote:Every Stanley tape measure I’ve owned in the past 15 years eventually stops auto-rolling back into its case. And it won’t take in the slack tape even if you try pushing it in. Waste of money.
It's not like I am a contractor - but I do build sets and props for a local community theater group. But to my original point- it happens. I tossed them and moved on.
