Rep. Mayra Flores, R-Texas, won her South Texas seat in a special election this year that was seen as a bad sign for Democrats in the midterms. NBC News projected earlier tonight that she would lose her race to Democrat Vincent Gonzalez.

Shout out to MI GOP for running absolute insane, election-denying misogynists for office. Decent folks in Michigan appreciate it.
This was the first thing I looked at. I'm no Dana Nessel fan, but the dude that they put up against her was a straight up nut job. Hopefully we weeded a few of these out during this election.

Florida is so fucked up with gerrymandering out the wazoo and crazy voter suppression that it is an indicator of nothing other than what the Republican Party would like to do to the rest of the country.
I thought Florida had computer generated districts? At least I thought they did for the national representatives, maybe not for state positions.
Edit: nevermind. I might have fallen for some repub propaganda. There was a big citizen initiative to make it fair but the state Republicans gained some national help to twist the lines to be compliant with the amendment but still heavily favoring Republicans. God Republicans are insidious.
What was once basically 50/50 with a slight Republicans lean is now heavily leaning Republicans by 3-4 seats.
DeSantis vetoed the Republican-controlled legislature’s redistricting of U.S. congressional maps this year, replacing it with his own plan that went further in tilting the advantage to Republicans.
While statewide elections in Florida only narrowly favor Republicans – Trump won the 2020 election in the state with 51% of the vote, and DeSantis won in 2018 with just under 50% – gerrymandered congressional districts have given the party a 16 to 11 advantage in congressional seats.
DeSantis’ redistricting map goes much farther, giving Republicans the advantage in 20 out of what are now 28 congressional districts due to population growth.
It was protested by civil rights advocates as an extreme racial gerrymander because of the lengths it went to eliminate districts in which Black voters had significant influence
Based on statewide voting the split should be 14/14 or 15/13 so yes, 6 seats, which could tilt the US House Red. Sort of sad thing is that New York Democratics finally, after kicking Commo to the curb, created their own gerrymander to counter Florida, only to have a Commo appointed judge overturn it and replace it with a Republican friendly map.

I think with Romney - Milliken as Govenor the State gave off a reddish vibe & then with the takeover of the legislature (via term limits? & gerrymandering) the State looked much redder than it is. It is purple, about 51/49 to the blue side of that.
I will give the Republicans in the state credit that a significant portion of them really want good government policies and voting, which is why we see overwhelming support for fair voting and districting proposals. This is much more Milliken's Republican Michigan than Sydnor's or Devoss's. BTW I think his son is a Realtor in A2.

Not much gets done, either due to Democratic "moderates" in the Senate, or due to the Repubicans controlling the House, if that happens.
What the Democratic Party needs, a national Voting Rights Act that mandates fair districting, like Michigan and a few other States have, and fair voting, which no place seems to have, is very unlikely, and very possibly would be declared unconstitutional by the now radical Supreme Court.

I feel like those numbers are always like that, when presented as a percentage of that segment. But what matters is the turnout in the younger age group in order to make that +28 more relevant in the number of actual votes. It sounds like turnout was good amongst the youngins.

If trump runs, there will be an opportunity to take everything in two years and get what you are dreaming of. Democrats right now should be out organizing reproductive freedom related ballot initiatives in every contested state. Add in another proposal or two (MJ, and a minor voting rights proposal?) And maybe you can generate a big blue wave. Michigan should be seen as a blueprint for taking other states. You need these issues to motivate as many democrats as possible.
