That is what social media stars are all about, and it isn't being egotistical just for personal gratification, it is all about the Bemjamins.
btw - IMO Jill Biden's invitation was totally tone deaf, which everyone saw right away. The skin color on the teams made it worse. I'm sure the White House thought it was a celebration of woman, but sometime the old folk don't "get" it.

They seem to be taking that "chip on their shoulder" a bit over the top.
.Reese also indicated that Biden was supposed to come to their locker room before the game, but she said the team said no.
When asked why, she said it was because President Biden “put somebody else” to win the national championship and didn’t have LSU in his bracket. For context: Biden predicted Villanova would win the title and his pre-tournament bracket did not have LSU advancing past the second round

Agree. I mean I suppose I could get behind the cause if I understood what it was. So far it looks like white girls shouldn't be able to talk trash, first lady's shouldn't stay stupid things and President's need to make better basketball predictions

This does seem to be a bit much, very much like players forming super teams in the NBA. I don’t think this is what the portal is for, but whatever works for the players I guess.

My take is the WNBA better up the ante. When the best players can make 5 times more in college is a problem for the brand

Re: Caitlin Clark
The unfortunate reality is that the WNBA has lost money every year of their existence. They are financially supported by the NBA which gives them 15 million a year, but their total revenue is only around 60 million per year. (15 million from the NBA, 25 million TV contract, 20 million in ticket sales). To put that in prospective Stephen Curry makes about 50 million per year. According to a legal filing when the ABL folded, the WNBA is 22 million dollars in debt.duffy munn wrote:Turtleneck wrote:This does seem to be a bit much, very much like players forming super teams in the NBA. I understand your point, but I don't have any answers. It is tough to pay players more when you are losing money. Maybe the NBA should do more (7 billion in annual revenue) but it is not their league.
There is some light at the end of the tunnel. WNBA franchises seem to have real value - one recently sold for 151 million, but before that the highest sale price was 10 million. The league was able to raise 75 million in capital from investors. So people are betting that the league will be viable and profitable in the future (and that has to do with the Caitlin Clark's of the world). Their TV contract expires in 2025 and there could be some real revenue growth there.
On the flip side they have been around 27 years and are still losing money paying really shitty salaries.

I don’t know any women that watch the WNBA but I know a lot that watch HGTV and a lot of Reality TV. I know a lot of women that like the NFL.

Love it. MSU up 2 at the half.
Going to bed sports fans. I have an early trail run scheduled tomorrow. Will check the final during one of my 3 trips to the bathroom overnight.

I like the new coach. I don't recall a team that pushed the ball, like she had them doing last night. They'll struggle against big teams (because all of ours are hurt). I think we're leading the Big Ten in scoring, and in 3s/game. Clark made a Steph shot to win it.
