That sucks. I root for the Cats and think Collins is a damn good coach. Their roster is already thin and losing Berry will be really hard to overcome.

You gotta keep up. No one watches college hoops regular season anymore outside of a few die hards. Low ratings.

I knew that NW was overrated. Once Boo leaves they’ll return to bottom feeder status. When it comes to sports from top to bottom NorthWestern does it the wrong way.

They did beat us, and Purdue though.
And we have to play them again.

they're good but it's gonna be tough without Berry. And last night another starter was ejected in the first half. Northwestern is well coached. Collins has done things there that have never been done.NigelUno wrote:steveschneider wrote:

He's made the Tournament twice (which is 2 more than all of their other coaches combined).
Hope they can close it out and get in this year. Teams like Indiana, UM, Ohio State, Maryland, and Iowa most likely will be sitting home.

Re: Big Ten basketball 2023-24
Northwestern guard Ty Berry will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery Tuesday for a torn meniscus, coach Chris Collins announced Wednesday.
Northwestern ranks No. 7 nationally in 3-point percentage at 39.5%, thanks in large part to Berry's team-best 43.3% mark on 5.5 attempts per game. The 6-foot-3 senior was averaging 11.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
senior leadership and an pretty elite shooter, averaging nearly 12 a game.

Yep. Losing Berry is a killer and last night was a tough road game environment. Collins has completely changed Northwestetn basketball. It used to be a visit to Evanston was a defacto home game for the visitor. Not anymore as the renovated Welsh Ryan arena is an advantage for the Cats. Finally, to the poster who suggested they do it " the wrong way" I say that's complete bullshit and an example as to why college sports are starting to suckNigelUno wrote:duffy munn wrote: they're good but it's gonna be tough without Berry. I'd venture to guess being "the guy that revived Indiana basketball" would be a challenge confident coaches would want. You'd be a basketball god.
Um, meh. OSU would pay well.

Less pressure at UM or OSU. Seems like a great fit at IU.

Maybe if he went to OSU or U of M he could start doing things "the right way"

Sure looks like Warde is going to do just that. Which is wonderful and hilarious at the same time. I mean, it used to be they didn't fire you when you slapped an opposing coach in a handshake line. Because you were winning.
Or your star point crashing the AD's car drunk was worthy of just a couple games because you looked into his soul and determined he's a great kid. And because you were winning.
Now they completely suck, like Brian Ellerbe bad, and Juwan he STILL can't get fired. Probably because of the integrity he has always exhibited as a Michigan Man.

Edey is plenty good as a 7-4 center. Many teams just don't have anyone close to matching up with him, including MSU. I think the surrounding cast for Purdue is better this year and they have a better shot at getting to the Final 4 and even winning. Despite losing to OSU yesterday Purdue will still win the Big10. Edey's final judgement will be how far Purdue goes in the NCAAT
