Had the US had that in place the 17 year old in Uvalde TX wouldn't have been to buy his guns and ammunition using a credit card. The shooter at Mandalay Bay had purchased 24 weapons and 1000's of rounds of ammunition with zero records of his purchases. Same with Sandy Hook where the killer's mother bought guns and ammunition.

My solution is require gun registration. If already you own a gun and choose to sell it, the gun gets registered. Any new gun purchases get national registration.

BUT THE GUBMENT WILL TAKE MY GUNS. No because there are too damned many unregistered guns floating around.

The other you are responsible for your guns. If it's stolen and used in the commission of a crime, better hire a lawyer because you could be going to jail for at least a year on a felony charge and 5 years probation after that. That does away with the "They weren't taking their meds and took my gun" excuse etc.. You are truly responsible for your weapons.

It's a shame we can't require registration/training/permits to breed.
