Wouldn't it be more sensible to just ride in the other direction, or in places where those wild beasts aren't.

I've lived in wilder places than Colorado, and wild beasts generally avoid people, however there are nonviolent means which are better if one is encountered.  The best avoidance is riding in places they are not.

Well since you clearly know me and where I live and have SO much more experience living in places than me, I'll uh... take that under advisement along with my guilt about killing thousands of kids. Thanks!

I probably have the advantage of being a child in a wild area. They didn't let children have guns for wild beast protection, back in the day, but taught us what to do if we and the beasties came together.

Ban Guns

We had warning with the Oxford shooter, too.  But parents either don't care, or want to protect their precious snowflake, and school districts are too scared to act for fear of being sued.  There are a lot of problems in America surrounding the nuclear family and the educational system.  But it's far easier to blame guns.

The correct answer is all of the above and that's a hard thing to address.  Guns are an easy target but they are not a scape goat as you imply.  They are a big part of the problem too.

If we had a year's warning that this little shit was a monster, and there was warning that morning of an immanent attack, and the authorities and/or his parents STILL couldn't stop him, then yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe getting rid of guns is the only answer. Clearly police work isn't getting it done.

Mastercard/Visa and Discover already track the purchase of guns and quantities of ammunition in other countries. The amount of ammunition varies according to a country's laws.

Had the US had that in place the 17 year old in Uvalde TX wouldn't have been to buy his guns and ammunition using a credit card. The shooter at Mandalay Bay had purchased 24 weapons and 1000's of rounds of ammunition with zero records of his purchases. Same with Sandy Hook where the killer's mother bought guns and ammunition.

My solution is require gun registration. If already you own a gun and choose to sell it, the gun gets registered. Any new gun purchases get national registration.

BUT THE GUBMENT WILL TAKE MY GUNS. No because there are too damned many unregistered guns floating around.

The other you are responsible for your guns. If it's stolen and used in the commission of a crime, better hire a lawyer because you could be going to jail for at least a year on a felony charge and 5 years probation after that. That does away with the "They weren't taking their meds and took my gun" excuse etc.. You are truly responsible for your weapons.
