Up North has grown mountains since my non-threatening family and I were last there.. enjoying a bonfire, making S'mores and playing with our golden lab on a sunset-filled Pure Michigan beach.

I think about 6, but to be fair, I had the shanks on the first 6 holes. I know I only lost 2 on the back. Obviously, once I stopped using prov1, I stopped losing balls. Only used my driver 3 times.

Price point. It's 10 minutes or so from our place. $25 after 2:15. Played cedar river and Sundance already, playing legend tomorrow and hawks eye on Friday.

Maybe next year. It's more than 20 minutes, probably closer to 45. We know what we're getting into going to chief. Granted my uncle shot a 37 or 39 on the back.

Full disclosure- this is only my second year of playing golf week to week consistently, I've played since college, but for a long time it was maybe once a month with several years of not at all.

So anyway, tonight I started out with a 5554 with par being 5354. I was quite proud of that. It went to shit, as I sort of expected it to eventually and still ended up with a 51 (there was a 9 in there) but hey, it's still my personal best on that course I play every week that isn't even up north so this probably isn't the thread for that but deal with it.

Good job good effort Travis.

I also shot 51 last night for league. My worst 9 of the year. I picked up on 3 holes and took double par. I'm not a hothead though, I do it with a smile on my face. I don't think I should be good at golf because I don't practice. Just sometimes I would rather sit in the cart and sip beer if I lose a ball and I'm lying 4 and I'm 50 yards off the green.

No. Golf league night on the course I drink Miller Lite. We go to the bar before and I usually have 2 bourbons. Neat or rocks. I don't really care. But by that time I need to drink Miller Lite or I'm probably not in driving shape after the bar after the round.

Sorry pantry, up north is different to different people. To me Up north starts where the soil changes consistency and becomes sandy. This is probably just north of Pinconning.

You can find the same soil at Pinery Provincial Park in Ontario. Shorter drive and the place blows all MSP's to hell, except maybe Ludington.

I get it. It's about 15 minutes from my place in Central Lake and I played it for free 3 weeks ago. They pretty much give it away at the Chief.

That said, I hate that fucking course.

So, wife and I are planning a norhtern swing with the kids. 19 & 16 now, they don't want to do the summer vacation shit anymore. So, we're just visiting some old relatives in the U.P., see my grandparents graves etc. Kids are agreeable to that and I'm happy about them wanting to visit relatives. So, the wife says Lets get an Island room for two nights as a break from the lower penisula to the upper. I'm like O.K., if the kids want to, we'll do it. They say sure. Wife says "book a room". O.K., I do. For the 16th and 17th. She asks me where, I say The chippewa. She goes, I'm on the internet I can get a better room. She explains it to me, I think it's a bit expensive, but it's probably the only hotel we're staying at for the 8 day swing. I say, sure. She pulls the trigger.

I call the Chippewa to cancel. Now get this, I had only had the reservations for a fucking day. Chippewa says they need to keep my money for the first night. I'm like what? I just fucking made the reservation yesterday, it's like 6 days away. Lady says sorry. First night room money is ours.

Fuck.

I'm not sure if I fully understand what's going on here.. maybe my comprehension skills are inadequate (entirely possible).

regardless, it sounds like you were given the "whatever you wanna do.. it's up to you. You're in charge" directive. So.. you took charge, made plans, executed the directive flawlessly - only for the wife to have a problem with it.
