Observations: Michigan State's Denzel Valentine is a success story

There's something to be said for withstanding the test of time. There's something to be said for not coming in with high expectations as a freshman and maximizing your abilities so that you're an All-American as a senior as well as a national player of the year candidate.

That's what's happened with Michigan State's Denzel Valentine (29 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists Thursday vs. Boston College) and it's the same thing that happened when Draymond Green was at Michigan State. These are the types of guys that should be the focus of college basketball -- the ones with the calluses.
