Wathens was solid. Sweet after taste, guessing heavy corn. The 97 proof was talking to Nordic last night. Putting the finishing touches on it now.
I would definitely drink.it again and recommend a try...but not something I would buy on the regular.

Enjoying a Dripa while I decide a plan of attack. Gotta go with something I don't think I've had, so I'm down to...
1792 Ridgemont Reserve

I would take plain old Buffalo Trace over anything else on that list.

OGD is my shit. It's cheap, doesn't taste terrible, and doesn't give you a hangover... usually
For Christmas I got a bottle of Four Roses (yusss), and a bottle of some local shit out of Boise called Seven Devils? It's made at a Koenig Winery. It's not terrible. Kind of reminds me of buffalo trace.

Angel's Envy is pretty good but Jefferson's Reserve is just straight up amazing.
I don't know how I feel about that Jefferson's Manhattan cocktail. I'd much rather just have a bottle of their Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon but it would make a neat gift for sure.

I have no idea where you live but I was able to find Jefferson's Groth and Jefferson's Ocean at this huge ass liquor store in Grand Rapids.

As luck would have it, I live downtown GR and am familiar with the place. I'll have to stop in and pick something up for NYE before I head to Detroit.

Went Bookers, Turkey and Old GD. Had a DRIPA starter. Turkey was the best. Obviously Booker's isn't going for a smooth finish. OGD was my least favorite by far. Should of went with the 1972 or Evan Williams (had it before though) instead.

Bulliett or BT would be my normal go to, but I have that at home.
WBH, it was the B Spot in the Rochester Village. Food was pretty meh, but they had a very good beer are bourbon selection.

I have a Jefferson's so I thought the Manhattan should be delicious. The 1792 just shipped. I'm hoping the other ships tomorrow.AnomanderRake wrote:Angel's Envy is pretty good but Jefferson's Reserve is just straight up amazing.

Bought a bottle of Woodford Double Oaked last week. Guess I'm not a connoisseur of great bourbon. Good but much too smooth for me. Would rather spend $20 less on regular bottle of Reserve.
Same issue with gin. People rave about Hendricks but I prefer Tanqueray for the bite. Tanqueray plays better with limes. Better with sharp cheeses also.

You need ice or water in OGD. It ain't for pussies.

Expensive gins are a meh to me...I prefer a cheaper gin to mix with a lemonade.
PS Ran out of Woodford and hit the ABC looking for something new.... 4 Roses regular yellow label was on sale and have never had it... Pretty fucking nice for the price.

Standard Four Roses is my go-to Bourbon for all cocktails. It is excellent for $20 per 750ml, always keep a bottle on hand.
Anyone ever have Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey? Happened upon a bottle on NYE that I haven't tried yet. Will report back with impressions.

Re: Bourbon and whiskey drinkers
Ok, so my go to lately is Bulleit, but they keep moving the price up, now its avg of $49.99 for 1.75, although Costco still has it at $42.99. I tried Larceny, that was pretty good, smooth, I liked it. Buffalo Trace is impossible to find around here, I know of one store that has it, and they seem to only get about 4 bottles every other week.
I'm looking for recommendations on a 1.75 between $40-50.

Yeah, wife just moved on to the second trimester last week. I think it's in the baby naming thread. We found a crib we like just today. There are some shitty, unsafe looking cribs out there.

We're probably getting a 3 in 1 crib from Furiture Row. Solid as fuck. They're getting out of the crib business so the one we're looking at is on clearance for $300. Originally $750. Score!

Jesus H. Christ. Pappy's usual oldest bourbon is a 23 year. I can't even compute what a bottle of something this rare will be priced at. I've seen 23 year bottle go for as much as $5000.......
