I saw holes in this team before the season started and thought the transition from good cop assistants to tough cop co-DC's for Barnett and Tressel could be an issue and that was before the meat wagon started filled no up with injured players.

I'm enjoying it. I just don't see us in the playoffs unless the coaches fix the special teams (which actually got worse the last two games).  And hopefully the running game gets going with JA'a return.

Just amazed at where we've come from.  I remember coaching the camps there, the lockerroom just sucked in the stadium stunk, had horrible astro turf carpeting, toilet stalls had no walls on them.  The duffy had very little weight equipment, and it was only the duffy, nothing built on to it.  

This is fricken amazing.  I know that no matter what, there will always be those who say we need to do this or that because we're not good enough.  They have valid concerns, but damn, I'm 53 now, I never thought we'd see people doing this.  Not pissed,  not drunk, just hit me, this is a program with two top five finishes in a row, a Rosebowl a cottonbowl, a big ten cahmpionship.   Beating teams like Georgia, TCU Baylor, Stanford, OSU.  And we're not satisfied.

DWags is right about the facilities. MSU had Big Ten facilities that were equivalent to the bottom 4 teams of the Big a Ten.

Muddy was getting stiffed on every request from getting 6 video cameras to film practices to just getting extra towels for the awful locker room. When Perles came in the check books started to open and MSU started closing the facilities gap with ND, OSU and umma.

LSU, Baylor, and Clemson are ranked around where we are.

So, it seems like it might not be as important as you think it is.

But, I like that you've already determined what will cost us a game.

Well, here's my take. OSU is the best team in the BIG. That's pretty obvious. If MSU plays its best game and OSU plays its best game, then I think OSU wins. However, it's not always about who the best team is, it's about who plays the best in any given game.

I think we can beat OSU, but it will require some mistakes on their part and a healthy MSU OL to do it. When I say healthy, I mean as healthy as any other team at the time of year we play OSU, not 100%, but able to execute on a high level. I am hoping for some improvement in the secondary, the running game, special teams, and a healthy OL.

Some choose to focus on the negative, but I figure the special teams can only improve at this point. I know, never say it can't get worse, and I'm not saying that. I'm saying that it will improve by the time we play OSU. If OSU plays an outstanding game like last year, and we play well, then I can live with the loss.

I like DWags analogy with the playoff. We're in a one and done tournament game every week we play. Hopefully we get stronger as we go. Hopefully we catch OSU on a day they have a bad game. Things are lining up for us. Baylor's QB has a neck injury and maybe that will result in them losing some games that they otherwise might have won and knock them out of the playoff picture. Maybe TCU loses to Oklahoma or Okie State, or Baylor's QB returns in time to beat TCU, but Baylor's already knocked out by then. FSU got knocked out, maybe Clemson loses to FSU. Who knows what might happen. Maybe we make it to the playoff and get a favorable matchup. I don't know.

All I know is that I'm gonna enjoy the ride on this gravy train and toot that fucking horn all the way until the end of the season win or lose. I refuse to get pissed off if we lose to OSU and we don't get to the playoff. And Geiger even made a field goal. One game doesn't equal a trend but I think chances are good they can improve to at least average the rest of the season.

Seriously, I think we're playing for a nice bowl bid. Unless the coaches can work some magic with the special-teams and the OL during the bye week, there won't be any playoffs for us.
