Luck is when it happens once or twice. The Dantonio effect is when it happens all the time.

Trevon Pendleton: Portable Lineman
Good write-up from SI.
Portable Lineman makes me laugh.
Good write-up from SI.
The compact packaging—"I call him a portable lineman," Michigan State sophomore tailback Gerald Holmes says—and unassuming personality suggest this all is surprising. It might not be. Pendleton has been a big-play incubator for some time, well beyond his precocious and ill-fated debut as a kindergartner. As a fifth-grader, in a Pee Wee game against a rival team from Portsmouth, Trevon rushed for eight touchdowns on eight carries, per the recollection of his older brother Jerrod. Trevon balks at this mythologizing. "It was like nine or 10 [carries]," he says.
Portable Lineman makes me laugh.

Identity crisis: Much at stake for 'underdog' Michigan St., 'king' Alabama
Identity crisis: Much at stake for 'underdog' Michigan St., 'king' Alabama
Michigan State is one victory away from losing its cherished underdog identity. Alabama is one victory away – OK, two – from regaining its cherished master-of-the-universe identity.
You can’t beat Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama in the same season and still be an underdog. You can’t beat Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer and Nick Saban in the same season and pretend you haven’t arrived. Do those things, and you are The Establishment.

Honestly, if you ever see him interviewed live call him, see if he flinches or better if he doesn't have it on vibrate, see if you can hear it.

They look pretty happy for getting their ass beat by a bakers dozen last night. I'd have em running those stadium stairs at halftime of the mavericks game.

Re: The Month long lead up to the Cotton Bowl Thread
Freep Article about Coach D which was written by Windsor. Very good, somewhat long read for a newspaper article.
"We had gathered for breakfast in the Kellogg Center," recalled Staten. "I brought up how (our position group) was getting ready. I also mentioned that my son, Quinn, who is 10, was also getting ready for his first game. Coach D said, 'Well, what are you doing here? Go. I'll handle your duties until you get back.' "
So there was Staten, decked in green and white, pacing the sideline of a field in Grand Ledge, watching his boy run up and down, surrounded by all those other parents. He couldn't believe he was there. That his coach had sent him when that night was the biggest game of the season.
