Republicans, Democrats, and Obesity
Here is an article that lists the 10 most and least obese states in the US. It's the usual suspects. Michigan is not in the top 10 so lets all celebrate with cake and ice cream. Travis is buying. Anyway, I was bored so I crossed the top 10 list with electoral college results. Some interesting stuff.
The top 10 states with a weight problem exhibit support for mostly R candidates.
Mississippi - Has not been won by a Democratic candidate since 1976
Louisiana - 1996
West Virginia - 1996
Tennessee - 1996
South Carolina - 1976
Arkansas - 1996
Kentucky - 1996
Alabama - 1976
Oklahoma - 1964
North Dakota - 1976
It is worth noting that in both 1996 and 1976, the Democratic candidates were popular southern governors. Carter in 1976 and Clinton in 1996 (most of those states supported Clinton in 1992 as well).
States with the least weight problems seems to mostly support Democratic candidates, but there are clear exceptions.
Minnesota - Has not been won by a Republican candidate since 1972
Oregon - 1984
Vermont - 1988
Connecticut - 1988
Montana - 2012 (Last time won by a Democrat was 1992)
Utah - 2012 (Last time won by a Democrat was 1964)
Massachusetts - 1984
New Jersey - 1988
Colorado - 2004
Hawaii - 1984
The lesson here is Reagan. He was like kind of popular and stuff.

Fat matters.
It's why Chris Christie got lap band surgery in Feb'13.
It's why we haven't elected a fat person since Taft in 1908. Long before 24/7 video and movie theater weekly new reels.

That is not what we are discussing. We are discussing how the people who advocate for personal responsibility are entirely irresponsible and then the rest of us end up paying for it. Ok, that is not what we are discussing. That was just to be provocative.

That doesn't sound right. 93% of African-Americans and 71% of Hispanics supported Obama over Romney.

So you are saying Chris Christie, a career politician needed surgery to get thinner because he lacked personal responsibility to push himself away from the table for years?
Poor folks are fat. They often eat cheap high calorie foods to feel full.
Ever been to a place like Dothan AL or Canton MS? Even their "good" grocery stores have poor produce sections. Might be due to what people buy, but Meijer, Kroger and Spartan stores put them to shame.

Blacks are fat as fuck and lots of them live in the South.

"That trend has not held under the Obama administration. In all three measures covered under the study — poverty, income and unemployment — blacks have fared worse under the Obama administration than under the previous administration."

Just pointing out the fact the highest density of blacks are in those Southern states...and they are obese at a higher rate than whites and also vote Dem at a 93% clip.
But, nice try OP..

So now giving a factual retort to a bad correlation the OP was trying to make makes you want to ban people?

The OP never mentions correlation. There is no bad correlation if there is no attempt to establish correlation. Correlation would require an actual analysis. I believe this was all in jest but you would have to ask the OP. Either way, you clearly managed to take offense to this thread.
