Anyway, I know I can look one up. I've only done parmasean garlic wings by myself before.
Do you Nancies have a favorite? Help me get laid Sunday night.
For crissake DWags, first get a man's crockpot.
Then buy 10lbs of boneless pork butt, put the meat in the pot fat see up, add 2 bottles of beer, apply a rib rub or dry seasoning you like, and cook 8 hours at 250. You can serve the break apart pork or pull it and add the barbecue sauce of your choice.
Going with this. Gonna make a coleslaw. Should I go with corn?

Yeah, you're sorta right. You can possibly get a good brisket or pork butt in 8 hours plus 20 minutes in the smoker if you want to tend the fire in the winter.Cym Jim wrote:The Pantry wrote:What the hell is a "go to" crock pot recipe? Can throw any tough cut of meat into one with some chicken or beef stock on low for 8 hours and it will come out amazing.
Amazing is a little generous. It will taste like shitty crockpot meat steamed in its own nasty sweat for a stupid amount of time. Nothing has ever tasted even slightly better coming out of a crockpot that 20 minutes more work to cook it properly wouldn't solve.
Slow cooker chuck roasts are pretty fucking good. Please enlighten us with your method to do tough cuts better. Be forewarned. If you mention the English-beloved pressure cooker, I will put you on ignore forever.

Have never bought a boneless pork butt. Why would you want to? The bone is like a built-in gauge for doneness.GRR Spartan wrote:DWags wrote:Wife and kid are away this weekend returning Sunday night. I want to have a nice crock pot ready for them. Maybe the wife will sex me for it.

Oh come on. Some originality people that's all I ask.
Like for instance, maybe "I bet his favorite is some gay dudes cum all over his face"
I mean. That's not funny either. But you know what I mean.

My mother had a pressure cooker and would murder food in it. I thought they were getting trendy again, but I guess it's all sous vide now. As for braising, use a dutch oven or even a roasting pan with foil. It's hardly any more work and you can control the heat - brown at the start, reduce at the end . . . And avoid that dank crockpot taste.

I've only used pressure cookers for brown rice flour / vermiculite concoctions......... You can use them for cooking, too, though????

I use the boneless pork butt because unlike standard oven cooking the slow cooking sometimes makes the bone so fragile it breaks apart leaving pieces to crack your teeth. You can use bone in pork butt and carefully remove the bone when done. The meat should fall off the bone.
The beer shouldn't fully cover the meat and all the condensate from cooking keeps cycling back from the lid. The cast iron does a helluva job of even heating without hot spots you get with the standard crock pots.
Got the " recipe" from my son's little league coach. We make it at home and freeze leftovers for lazy Saturday lunches days you don't want to cook. Better than out of the container pulled pork all day.
