The Bulls could go in a number of directions. They need help pretty much everywhere.

Davis is the best athlete and shot blocker on the board. He even has an emerging perimeter game. He's raw, but in the long run he might be their best option.

18. Detroit Pistons
Denzel Valentine
Michigan State
Senior
Forward/guard

The Pistons could use another great passer. While Valentine isn't a point guard, he sees the floor really well, can shoot the 3 and brings a lot of intangibles to the table.

His ability to play right now would be a bonus for Detroit.

I also think a guy like Forbes coming off the bench and hitting a couple of three's helps the teams out too.

You mentioned two guards, Valentine is a guy obviously everybody is worried about his knee. Is his knee so bad, is this Granger like because the Pacers were the team that rolled the dice on Granger and ended up striking gold with him a few years back?

FORD: Everybody team has a different take on Valentine’s knee to we’re not drafting him on one extreme, right, and that there’s major concerns to, you know with the right care, or whatever, this — I think this is really manageable. Obviously he is a major, major prospect for the Pacers at 20 if he slides there. I think two months ago before the combine they would say there was no way Valentine was even getting to him, and one of the appeals obviously is Valentine plays right now. He comes in and he is an immediate contributor to the Pacers. I think they’ll seriously consider him at 20, but they along with all those other teams do know about his medical issues, and if he slides, he slides completely because of that, not because they don’t think the talent is there.

My memory is going. What happened to DV's knee? Was that why he missed about 3 weeks in the middle of the season? Or was it 2 weeks? Anyone know what the injury was?

I think that's the injury they're fretting about. Seems that most think it'll require surgery down the road.

Denzel factor: Rumors about the health of Denzel Valentine’s knees have dropped him in some mock drafts, but teams have examined his medical history and have a truer sense of how strong he is. If it checks out, he likely won’t fall out of the lottery.

Another Spartan: Deyonta Davis is projected to be a lottery pick, but given the soft middle of the first round, he could drop. One mock draft had Davis falling to No. 18 to the Pistons — and they’d take him, given his upside on defense.
