Meanwhile Putin lives this. I guess he has his reasons. A weaker Europe seems to be a good reason for him. Or is it? Fuck, we just don't know.

Putin has been rather quiet about Brexit, but you have to think he would not mind a weakened EU. Possibly an end to EU sanctions and the ability exploit a divided Europe...good news to Mr. Putin.

The vote was not legally binding so there is still a very good chance that there will be no Brexit.

Why Scotland if they voted to stay? I'm assuming he has a golf course there he'll be setting up shop from?

Looks like I guessed right. We're getting closer to Idiocracy every day!

I think there is some confusion here. This does not signal a rejection of global trade or the global market. Nobody in the UK is saying, "Hey, we don't need access to the European market. Fuck exporting our goods to Europe." This is about rejecting integration. Cheap shit will still be made in China and available for purchase at your local Walmart.

As I said a couple of times in this thread, while not legally binding I find it hard to believe Parliament goes against the results of the referendum. It is possible, but I do not see it as probable.

Don't they have an election coming up? If a bunch of people were running on a "this is a really bad idea" platform and they won, wouldnt it make it more likely?

They just had a general election last year. That is actually how they got in this mess. Cameron said "Keep the Torries in power and I will give you an EU referendum."

They will likely need to have another general election before the end of the year. They do not have regularly scheduled elections. The only stipulation is at least one election every five years. I am not sure when the exit process will begin. I suppose what you suggest is possible, but I suspect the UK will start navigating the process before the election.

There is a 2 year window for the UK's exit and since no country had ever moved to leave the EU before its going to be a work in progress. Part of that will be terms to make the UK an example but not so much to isolate the UK from its former UK partners.

Scotland's vote to Remain was 62% - 38%
Northern Ireland's was a bit closer 56% - 44%

The Scots already had one referendum to stay in the UK and that ended up with a 55% stay passed. We could see both countries want to leave the UK and for very different reasons. Scotland because their pissed off because they decided to stay and the vote goes against their interests and an oil exporter. Northern Ireland because after the vote they may see it advantageous to reunify with Ireland rather than remain as part of the UK or go it alone.

meh... the market goes up... the market goes down.

Silver is up a whooping 3% today and is still way down from it's peak in 2011/12.  So unless tTy bought all of his 20k ounces pre-2010 or earlier this year, he's still climbing out of a hole.

That said, it is probably a good long-term investment.  But hold off on the SS tTy purchase.

Grasshopper, if you get married and your wife wants to earn, that's cool. If you're married with children and she HAS to earn to keep your lifestyle going and you don't think that's complicated, I'd ask you to re-think any proposal. Our resident hypocrite tells us his life isn't so complicated that he needs to trade gold to maintain it, but says his wife has to earn and thinks that's not complicated? Well, OK.

We all live these fantasy lives on the Internet.
