The program certainly has not been the same since he retired. Bill Feraco is a great guy but he is no Jeff Smith when it comes to being a high school football coach.

Bill is more MSU friendly. And you don't have to.be MSU friendly in my mind. But you do your kids a disservice if you aren't neutral and honestly answering questions asked by families. Same goes for the Detroit coaches who will now negatively recruit against MSU.

I only give updates on EL during the season, usually keen post-game analysis. I don't recall recruiting being discussed when I was negotiating my Swill contract. Johns had 10-11 months to commit if he was sold on attending college and playing Big Ten basketball 5 miles from his home. 3-4 days ago Johns was talking Top 10.

Izzo offered Gabe Brown, another 6' 8" SF on Saturday June 16 and Brown gave us verbal on June 20.

Gabe Brown always wanted to come to MSU. Johns didn't.

I don't think Brown took his spot necessarily. We might get 2 more guys, in addition to Gabe Brown.
