Re: tWorld Series thread
Lance McCullers Jr will probably get the ball for Houston in Game 7. He's a friend of a friend .. talked to him once at a Whitecaps game when he was in single A. Pretty cocky but he's a good dude. He was wasting everyone's time in single A ball though. Starters throwing mid 90s shouldn't be anywhere near West Michigan

This next inning is a program inning for Houston. Time to put a message up on the board.

Dodgers stadium has been pretty quiet...last night was the loudest it has been in the series, but when they cut away to Houston where the fans were watching the game on the jumbo screen those fans were so much louder. Dodgers should drop the ticket prices and bring some loud mother fuckers in for game 7.

The problem with playoffs is that the true fans are priced out unless they had a season ticket package or were able to get tickets from the box office. I've been to that stadium a lot and even in big games and never really got that loud. The exception being the playoffs against the Mets in 2006. That game was loud, until the Dodgers lost.
Lets hope the Dodgers can win it all tonight!
That stadium was pretty loud back in the 80's when they won the series. I think you are right it just comes down to money, the working class guy that is going to go to a game, hold up a dumb sign to make it on tv and make it loud just can't get in. Instead you have Mary Hart and Larry King who are too embarrassed to be caught on camera getting drunk and going crazy at a Dodgers game.

Fuck the Dodgers. Fuck all huge market teams.
I hope the ball feels like a cue ball made of ice dipped in KY jelly tonight and that the Astros pound it.

Dodgers have like a 300 million dollar payroll and most of the free agent signings/trades in the past five years aren't even playing Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, etc.
If the Tigers had that kind of money they'd have dumped Cabrera, Sanchez, V Mart, Zimmerman by now.

The Dodgers haven't won a World Series since '88. Yes, they are a big market team but you have to admire the fact that ownership wants to win - same with the Yankees. George Steinbrenner just wanted to win. How can you blame a guy for wanting to win literally every single year?
I don't blame them. I'm not a full blown big Market team hater at all, just pointing out the advantage they have.
I have so many friends out in LA that are die hard Dodger fans that I won't be too broken up if they lose. Literally the only reason for me to root for the Astros is because of Verlander.

I rarely bet baseball, but the Astros +145 seems pretty juicy no? I get that Dodgers are favored but thinking there might be some big market bias going on

+145 is the money line. If you want the spread, it’s -1.5 which they need to win by 2 runs. That’s a lot better pay out.

That's just a load or horse shit. Every team wants to win. The Dodgers owners certainly don't want to win more than the Astro's owners. They just have a shit ton more resources.gHost Spartan wrote:steveschneider wrote:

I'm watching WMU vs CMU because baseball is boring as fuck. Also there's a female ref and she's a babe.
No joke I didn't even know the world series was going on until Monday. Is there a hot female umpire or should I keep watching WMU vs CMU?

If they wanted to win so much why the fuck didn't they sign Verlander. He wanted to be a Dodger, he even lives in LA in the off season. They signed Darvish because he was cheaper - pure and simple. I hope it costs those jackasses a World Series.gHost Spartan wrote:steveschneider wrote:

Justin Verlander could have been a Dodger, instead he can win World Series with Astros

Meh, Dodgers have such i high payroll and they wanted to keep their prospects. Verlander has had an amazing playoff run but he’s also had some struggles and looked his age at some points too.

Bull shit. ANY team could have claimed Verlander off waivers and given up ZERO prospects. They just didn't want to pay his salary.

Dodgers have the highest payroll you are correct they didn’t want to pay for him and there’s question marks around him. His era around the trade deadline was high.

The tigers would have pulled him off waivers before letting him go for zero
