Eat whatever you want and makes you happy. Call it whatever you want. Put butter on an apple pie then some meat slices on that and call it a pasty who cares. Put ketchup on your hot dog if you want. Pineapple on your pizza if that’s your thing. Call it a pizza pasty. All internet food rules are fake. Do whatever makes you happy life is too short

I’ve never understood why so many people insist on how others should prepare and eat their food. All I ask is chew with your mouth closed and don’t smack your lips, but that’s just my own misophonia acting up.

Both you and Travis can make whatever you want and call it whatever you want.

My interest here is purely on proper UP-Cornish pasty. It's about heritage...same as that shared by all MSU alums.

I’m mostly Italian American. I do not care if you break your spaghetti in half or how you make your sauce. I have my way. Thank you for taking an interest in ancestors culture and doing it a different way that pleases you. I do not care.

Is all your msu apparel officially licensed? Or do you buy what’s looks good to you regardless of who made it?

Drove those in the 1970's.  They also used cranks to lower the windows, a clutch & manual transmission to change gears and didn't have a radio.

As this discussion is about what a pasty is a first hand account of what was sold as one in the 1960's, when miners might have been still taking them to work should have some interest by some posters.

Have no MSU apparel, licensed or otherwise. Use to have an '88 Rose Bowl T-shirt...think it was licensed.

Is buying MSU clothing important?

Think it starts end of the month in the Up North zone. Shoot all the Canadian geese you want between now and then wherever, whenever you see them.

Not necessary. I look at all the dorks at work wearing UM gear, uncertain even one of them isn't a Walmart wolvie, and don't need to wear our brand to take pride in Michigan State.

I do have a licensed Michigan State cap I wear on special occasions. Haven't seen it in years...will have to look for it.

Barb's has been around long as I can remember. Was really good. Haven't been there in a few years. Last time the meat, potato, rutabaga ratio was off...less meat and rutabaga, more potato. Will give it another try soon.

Had my authentic Braves BP hat on this morning. Need to find my authentic 5950 Gamer for later.

Side note: Max Fried on the mound for the Braves tonight. 6-1 on the year. Braves are 8-3 when he starts. Wainwright for the Cardinals (3-10, 8.10 ERA). Repeat...8.10 ERA. Not a misprint.

Flying north and just a few miles from being Up North, I'd let it slide. Was probably downstate visiting relatives.

I think so.  They're playing the Lions in Week 3.
Speaking of which, I think I need some Lions sideline authentic gear.  Thinking about the Black 2023 Sideline Throwback Heavy Brushed Waffle Long Sleeve Top.  Your thoughts?

Seriously though, near the end when my polish grandma was starting to lose it, she made pierogi with raisins and left over meatloaf. "But only a couple" she justified... couldn't tell which were the good ones and which were the crazy. A fun Easter.

Haven't had Barbs in a while...they use to be $7.  Just looked it up and they're now $9.80.  But they are a full pound.

Uncle Peters are $8.99 but are only 12 ounces.  Adjusted for weight, they'd be $12 for a one pound version.

Even the Pasty Guy says Barbs are the best in the lower peninsula.  You should try one instead of yapping on about Uncle Peters being the best, even claiming it's better than UP pasty.

Barb may not have the No. 1 pasty in Michigan, but she definitely has the rest of the L.P. beat out.

I suggest we stop with the pasty discussion without Dendro’s written consent.  Or everyone’s I guess.  No more talk of “butter” or “batter” or “gravy” on pasties.  If you are talking ketchup then I suggest you see your physician.  Just FYI I am a mandated reporter.
