I’ve never understood why so many people insist on how others should prepare and eat their food. All I ask is chew with your mouth closed and don’t smack your lips, but that’s just my own misophonia acting up.

Ground meat as a filling is the invention of us weak jawed baby boomers.
Do you insist on driving cars with no power steering or power brakes like the ones you rode in back in the 1960s?

My interest here is purely on proper UP-Cornish pasty. It's about heritage...same as that shared by all MSU alums.

Is all your msu apparel officially licensed? Or do you buy what’s looks good to you regardless of who made it?

Drove those in the 1970's. They also used cranks to lower the windows, a clutch & manual transmission to change gears and didn't have a radio.
As this discussion is about what a pasty is a first hand account of what was sold as one in the 1960's, when miners might have been still taking them to work should have some interest by some posters.

Have no MSU apparel, licensed or otherwise. Use to have an '88 Rose Bowl T-shirt...think it was licensed.kingstonlake wrote:The Pantry wrote:

Not necessary. I look at all the dorks at work wearing UM gear, uncertain even one of them isn't a Walmart wolvie, and don't need to wear our brand to take pride in Michigan State.NigelUno wrote:The Pantry wrote:Have no MSU apparel, licensed or otherwise. Barb's has been around long as I can remember. Was really good. Haven't been there in a few years. Last time the meat, potato, rutabaga ratio was off...less meat and rutabaga, more potato. Will give it another try soon.Zurn wrote:Perhaps covered in an earlier page but Barb's in Clawson makes a pretty good pasty.

I wear authentic gear because it makes me feel authentic.
Nothing better than wearing an authentic MSU shirt, polo, or hat and getting a Go Green from someone.

Had my authentic Braves BP hat on this morning. Need to find my authentic 5950 Gamer for later.
Side note: Max Fried on the mound for the Braves tonight. 6-1 on the year. Braves are 8-3 when he starts. Wainwright for the Cardinals (3-10, 8.10 ERA). Repeat...8.10 ERA. Not a misprint.

I think so. They're playing the Lions in Week 3.
Speaking of which, I think I need some Lions sideline authentic gear. Thinking about the Black 2023 Sideline Throwback Heavy Brushed Waffle Long Sleeve Top. Your thoughts?

Re: Pasties
Uncle Peters are $8.99 but are only 12 ounces. Adjusted for weight, they'd be $12 for a one pound version.
Even the Pasty Guy says Barbs are the best in the lower peninsula. You should try one instead of yapping on about Uncle Peters being the best, even claiming it's better than UP pasty.
Barb may not have the No. 1 pasty in Michigan, but she definitely has the rest of the L.P. beat out.
