I've got all the ingredients, probably do it later this week. My daughter in law suggested I get a recipe from her mother and then proceeded to tell me they used to have to douse them in ketchup to make her pasties taste good. I declined.

Will make a batch of 8 after bow season using 50% venison/50% of 85/15 organic ground beef, potatoes, rutabaga, onion, salt and pepper.

That’s the thing, I said earlier pasty season is coming up. I’ll be making mine when it’s bitter cold out. Hey Pantry, Steve’s pasties are coming!

Used flank steak instead of cube steak.  Skipped the carrots and added more rutabaga.  Mom left out the cooking instructions.  Sis and I agreed it was 350° for an hour.  That was about right.  Make sure the lard is cold when cutting into the flour.  One of these is handy when making the dough

Lehto's (US-2) recipe was in a newspaper many years ago so mom wrote it down (no copying machine).  Doubt they make them the same now.  Far too little rutabaga IMO.  Both the suet for the dough and the temperature change part way through the bake are interesting.
