At least they have SEC football: The Poverty of the South
For everything we say about the Midwest, the south still leads in poverty and seems to be extending its lead. So, given the rise of the Sun Belt at the expense of the Frost Belt, why is the south so poor?

what always amazes me is how people in the south (red states) are conditioned to vote against what is in their best interests.. this shows us what red state politics bring..

this is why the south will never secede. if it did, in the rest of the US, per capita income would go up $5k, school test cores would shoot up, and the deficit would shrink.
