Re: The 2020 Presidential campaign.
A week ago, where we are was easily predicted....
- The Democratic Party encouraged mail-in voting; the GOP promoted day-of. There is a pandemic and this is indicative of the approach of the two parties in many ways.
- Trump would do well with his base, as would Biden. Biden would win the popular vote. it was closer than expected as the GOP had tremendous turnout.
- There would be closer margins in battleground states. Trump would take early leads given the manner in which votes were to be counted.
- Trump would promote a narrative of voter fraud if he didn't win. He has been setting up this argument for months.
- Results weren't going to be readily available on Tuesday night from many states. Those states were predicted a week ago.
It's drama but it's not surprising. Biden will win the election. The Trump campaign will now need to look at recounts and targeted lawsuits to try to question totals, which is what a campaign does in a close election. The only thing wrong here is President Trump, from the White House, questioning the integrity of our elections, claiming victory and seemingly indicating that he has no intention of accepting this vote once certified by the various states. I'd be saddened by that moment, but again, are we really surprised?! This circus is the only way a Trump administration could end. It'll continue until Biden is sworn in and then we'll have Trump TV as the deposed family plans their return. The only question there is whether it's Trump or Trump Jr. seeking the GOP nomination......

I'm in Delaware, should I run over to the Chase Center (Biden's campaign HQ) and hold up a Swill sign?

Just checked a couple of betting sites - the market is CLOSED if that tells you anything.
Actually, one of my sites does still have one prop available:

Media needs to get some stones and call this one. It's over.
Also, Kingston regarding the $20 we can make it an honor payment. Send it to your favorite charity, tip a pizza delivery person the $20, pay it forward at a bar, tip a barista $20 bucks, give it to a homeless guy, tip a server a twenty on top of the 20% tip, give it the bag person at the grocery store. Your choice, I find at bars or restaurants if I give a ridiculous tip I end up getting free shit back down the road. It balances out.

No need for the media to rush to call it. They learned from 2000. Besides, media calling it doesn't have any real effect on anything. When it is this razor thin still, I don't blame them waiting until there is another dump.

Re: The 2020 Presidential campaign.
Georgia is so close, the uncounted military votes might flip it back red. The guy at the podium right now said there was something like 9000 military votes yet to count. Not that it matters, thanks Pennsylvania!
And there are a few thousand in Gwenette county and 7000? in Cobb left to count. That's gotta be pretty pro Biden. So..... who knows.

Re: The 2020 Presidential campaign.
They don't know how many there are. From what I heard, Georgia mailed 8,899 absentee ballots to military members serving overseas. Those ballots must be received by 5:00 today and must have been postmarked by 11/3 (the military uses a APO/FPO system). They will not say how many have been returned until the deadline has passed.Watch Out Pylon! wrote:Georgia is so close, the uncounted military votes might flip it back red. But yes, it could flip back red once everything is counted - the remaining uncounted mail in ballots, provisional ballots and overseas military ballots. I would think both the provisional ballots and military ballots would favor Trump.

Ah ok. I thought the 9000 number was the amount they had to count.

Also, Biden was expected to win the military vote. Though it could vary from state to state, of course.

Which is incredible and speaks volumes to what a buffoon Trump is. If that guy just stfu, stayed off twitter and did the cookie cutter healer uniter speech that dude would have been a slam dunk for a second term. He just couldn't hold back from being cruel and literally gave the majority of the country the proverbial finger every day for four years.

No shit. A mandate would be like Trump taking Alabama and Biden taking the other 49 (and territories).

Re: The 2020 Presidential campaign.
Why? Republican's called it a mandate when they got the Senate by 3 chairs and Trump squeaked out victory by the Electoral votes but not the Popular vote. Biden is poised to win the Popular vote by 4 or 5 million (should be more, but is what it is) and the Electoral vote, potentially by a substantial number.Watch Out Pylon! wrote:Pelosi calling this a mandate for Biden.

Democrats need to just bring up how racist the Republican party is. If the Republican's are going to scream Socialism and Communism about Democrats, they need to do the same about them.

Exactly. She literally lost seats on election day. Shut up and worry about keeping your job because it's in jeapordy. I get your pissed at Trump, but don't bring the party down because of it. Don't become what you hate.

Heh, every time she says something or makes a move there's a melt down. Last one I recall was when she said she wouldn't debate Trump if she were Joe Biden and saw no value in it and then a little while later she was proven right after Trump imploded first debate.

Re: The 2020 Presidential campaign.
The military times poll (which is fairly independent) does show Biden with a slight edge. Military ballots can also include spouses in non-combat areas. FWIW, I am a veteran and I voted for Biden. I actually know a guy serving who did not retire (he is eligible) because he did not want Trump's name on his Presidential Letter of Appreciation.MiamiSpartan wrote:Also, Biden was expected to win the military vote. This doofus on Fox News is trying to go through scenarios where Trump can still win.
"Arizona is locked for some reason."
Guy offscreen: "It's locked because we called it."

True, but she made a good point and at the time I took it as her taking a jab at him implying all he was going to do was stand up there and say a bunch of nonsense. She was not wrong.
