Better radio personality than a head coach responsible for kids

I’m hoping it goes a different way. Get rid of sponsorships, tv, stadiums, scholarships, etc. Turn the clock back on college athletics where it’s just intramurals, truly amateur sports, the way it was in the early 20th century. Students who make time to play a sport, not athletes who struggle to find time to study. Except Spartan basketball. That shit’s fun.

Thought he was funny for a while myself but what really soured me on him is that whenever something doesn't go right for the team he always blames and calls out the players and never takes any self accountability. Very unappealing trait for a coach to have.

32 wouldn't work. You'd have to make it 64 to get Miss State in.

The only real answer is the complete decommercialization of college sports. Paying players is just, but will actually increase certain aspects of exploitation and certainly does not address corruption.

I know, and it won’t happen, but I’d be fine with letting the pros take over everything. Football could have its minor leagues, with privately held affiliation with all the different big league clubs. Let schools get back to teaching and research.

Shit... if they cared about the kids, it would be flag or touch or no football at all.

I am always amazed that Americans, given how they scrutinize public expenditures, are fine with the primary football and basketball development leagues being subsidized by taxpayers rather than the responsibility of the pro leagues.

To Turtleneck's point, its taken about 50 years but the popularity of men's basketball in the US has grown to the point where US colleges and the NCAA are going to lose their control of elite basketball players 16 and older.
Players like Emoni Bates have the option of going directly to the NBA's G League and Overtime Elite has started a professional league based in Atlanta that will initially have 30 players 16 and over who are paid $100K per year while they finiash their HS education with a primary focus on basketball.
Nike already has a sponsorship deal the the G League and Overtime Elite players will be able to have individual endorsement deals like US college players can have beginning this year.
This has been going on in European basketball for decades where college sports never had a foothold on revenue sports so basketball followed the soccer model.
In the US/Canada ice hockey has had a well established development program where players are drafted as young as 15 by the OHL and live with billited families. The league provides equipment, meals, medical insurance then those players talented enough get drafted by the NHL and typically go to a minor league. Major Junior A players are not eligible to play NCAA hockey.
