Already a fan of the event, Self said this year's two-game extravaganza may have a little extra juice, both because it's back in New York City and because it features the first game in the final season of Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, who announced his retirement from coaching during the offseason.

Coach can definitely use this as a motivating factor, but speaking only w/rt MSU players, it seems on point. Our guys have a lot of potential upside, but there’s not much from last or earlier seasons for Katz or anyone to point to and say this Spartan or that one should be higher. Now that they’re the main guys, we can only hope Gabe and Hauser and the rest step up and get the job done. I really think it’s in them to win a lot this year.
