Me neither, some of the articles refer to a rule by the courts to indict in the location the crime was committed for federal crimes.

Somebody lied. The conspiracy to lie to the FBI would be at least two people involved. I doubt that Trump said anything to the FBI - he just had someone else make a false statement. The question is - who flipped? Watch his Trump's feed - the on the attacks from his circle is the mark. That person is probably under FBI protection.
