Chapek had to have receive a huge a payout and probably still holds a lot of Disney shares so I'm sure he's happy about the stock price going up.

Rooting against Disney is as pathetic as it gets. This is the modern GOP a platform of hate, fear of change and depression about their own shrinking world. The 1950s are gone and they aint coming back.

Reality is former and current Disney CEO Bob Iger never went away.

The board rewarded his 15 years of success with CEO Emeritus title and and still had the ear of Disney Board members. Chapek always had Iger figuratively looking over his shoulder.

Chapek had some real bad luck that included COVID that shutdown Disney Parks, Disney cruise business, initially halted then TV/movie production slowly came back.

But Chapek didn’t do himself any favors when Scarlet Johansson went public about the way Disney juggled the theater and Disney+ release of Black Widow to reduce theatrical audience bonuses. (They settled) Then Director Tim Burton said he probably wouldn’t work for Disney again joining other directors and actors.

Lesson Disney learned they can’t move a guy like Chapek who was success running Disney’s parks who never grasped the finesse required to run a movie/TV company where the CEO needs to schmooze directorial and acting talent.

Thank you! And what ultimately hurt the financials was how much Disney spent on content and marketing for Disney+.

I’ll add, they missed expectations by a lot, which is where the calamitous claim comes from. But a little closer look reveals they still had net income of $162,000,000 for fiscal Q4.

Glancing through their report, it is as you noted. Seems like if the "woke" brewhaha had any financial effect it would have shown up in "park" revenue. Did not see a note on this for future liabilities either. Covid & costs due to Russia's war affect their numbers in that division, but it did better in 2022 than 2021. Not seeing Herr RQA's assertions holding water.

I enjoyed my trip to the Polynesian resort during Covid. Never waited for a thing or in a line. I remember saying to myself “this isn’t a profit making venture right now”. But we had a great time low capacity rates!
