Coming from a lawyer, I would have thought with civil liberties being trounced all over, you would have the opposite reaction.

What does "coming from a lawyer" even mean? As a professional, the lawyers I know base their beliefs on whoever is paying them. Sure, they have their personal beliefs, but that is irrelevant to their profession.

One of the guys I buy from I went golfing with last week. Apparently he is pretty conservative.
