Re: Ebola......
I can now see tTy's point in this - last week there had only been 1 case of Ebola in the USA; now that has doubled to 2 cases. Let's, for ease of computing say that 50% of all cases are fatal; and that although we've heard it can take up to 21 days, I'm going to use 14 days as the incubation period for my example.
week 0 - 1 sick, cumulative
week 2 - 2 sick, 1 dead
week 4 - 4 sick, 2 dead
week 6 - 8 sick, 4 dead
... fast forward, math & shit, end of the year 2014
week 12 - 64 sick, 32 dead (USA epicenter = Dallas, TX)
... fast forward to NCAA hoops tournament time
week 22 - > 8,000 sick, > 4,000 dead
... fast forward to 4th of July Weekend (panic in the streets
week 40 - >1,000,000 sick .....
They had better clean this shit up real fast and shut it down.
I'm sticking with my under 1,000.5; meaning this is stopped sometime in the next 16 weeks (unless there is separate outbreak in the US, unrelated to the Dallas patient #1)

I died of the bird flu once. I think I died of the pig one too, but I never went in to verify it killed me.

He was Black. Bob feels that all blacks are oppressed and believes they need to be compensated for that.
But keep in mind that's not racism, just reality.

Sending him home with a 103 degree temperature. Also, if he told them he just flew in from West Africa, I could see them winning a negligence claim.tTy wrote:

Plus you can sue for any reason, it doesn't mean you are going to win. It just means that a lawyer or family member thinks they have a chance to win.

I suppose him lying on the form he filled out before he left West Africa saying that he hadn't had any contact with anyone with ebola wouldn't work against the lawsuit.

Re: Ebola......
In 1969 a viral infection that was declared the most scariest virus to hit the continent since smallpox in 1633 traveled to the US. The virus; AIDS. Most of the viral infections are passed along the same way; body fluids from one body to another. Now true, one can be infected with HIV and live without certain death from the virus. Yet there have been over 600K deaths in the US due to AIDS. The problem with Ebola is going to be overwhelming numbers of carriers passing into the US. With over 1M cases known in Africa today, the number of global businesses with employees traveling back and forth, just look at HIV and see where that is today. Over 1M carriers in the US with something like 15% of carrier not even knowing they're carriers. The only global hope for control is going to be through anti-viral antidotes. We cannot stop illegal migration of people. How are they going to stop the migration of a nearly invisible virus.

Wait... pardon my ignorance, I haven't been paying attention to this nonsense... but isn't ebola only a couple week percolating time and it's only catchy when you are full fledged sick? Seems totally different then AIDS to me.
Also, remember the hype and fear (vs facts) around AIDS when that hit the mainstream... do you see any correlation?

So, to break that down.
Since ebola and AIDS are "totally different", they are pretty much the same RE: hype/fear (vs facts), ergo your "correlation" theory.
Got it.
