Maybe Thompson eliminated MSU. I suspect, if this is true, it means he is going to Syracuse. It does not sound like Seton Hall has the space without pushing two players out the door. I would think MSU would stay in a two horse race, but maybe the kid indicated he preferred Syracuse. Or maybe MSU just wanted to move on and put that focus elsewhere.

You "bow out" if there's a demand for something you can't provide - like cash.

That's how I read it, anyway. Izzo wouldn't walk away from someone who could help the team, and was interested in MSU, unless there was a ... problem.

Yeah, that's my uneducated guess, too. Haven't recruits gotten the message that they or their moms/dads shouldn't be sticking their hands out in Izzo's direction?

The Spartans have not pulled his scholarship offer. Communication has been difficult, and it is a weird recruitment, but no parties have pulled the plug on the other.
