10 biggest games at Spartan Stadium since 1966
The ones I quoted were the ones I was at. What about you guys?
• 2006: No. 12 Notre Dame 40, MSU 37. The Spartans were unranked but looking promising early, Bubba Smith was honored before the game, MSU built a 37-21 lead at night … then pouring rain and disaster.
• 2011: No. 15 MSU 37, No. 4 Wisconsin 31. "GameDay" was in town, the Spartans had just handled rival U-M, and a night crowd was thrilled by Kirk Cousins' Hail Mary to Keith Nichol to win it.
• 2014: No. 13 Ohio State 49, No. 7 MSU 37. Another "GameDay," prime-time Big Ten battle, which most expected MSU to win -- but the Buckeyes who went on to win it all were born that night.

No 2003 uofm???? Fan thus list.
2001 ND should be there as well. 1999 Oregon or 1998 ND works too.
List is garbage.
Oh and 87 Indiana for the big ten

"• 2003: No. 11 Michigan 27, No. 9 MSU 20. Anyone remember when John L. Smith's first MSU team started 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Big Ten to set up this showdown? The score was deceivingly close."

I was at these two
• 1999: No. 11 MSU 34, No. 3 Michigan 31. Both teams came in undefeated, and Nick Saban rode record-setting days from passer Bill Burke and receiver Plaxico Burress to a 34-17 lead -- then held on late vs. Tom Brady.
• 2003: No. 11 Michigan 27, No. 9 MSU 20. Anyone remember when John L. Smith's first MSU team started 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Big Ten to set up this showdown? The score was deceivingly close.
I may have also been at the USC game as a youngster. Not sure.

2006 vs. Notre Dame still hurts me, and I'd say it's only a top 10 biggest game because of the significance of what happened after that game. After that game, there was this distinct feeling that our fan base was losing hope in MSU football. Fans could only be beaten down so many times, and it was the breaking point.
Had MSU not gotten good under Dantonio shortly after, MSU might be an Illinois, Purdue, or Indiana-level program today. That would have sucked.

Going outside the box, I'd put john L Smith's last game at home vs osu was huge for msu. In retrospect, that was the game the BOT's met after and decided they were all in to land a coach and start a program that msu could be proud of.

Meant 2001. 2003 is a complete throwaway. Hell 2005 was bigger

is that the one where Ohio $tate was up, like, 28-0 halfway through the 2nd quarter, Ted Ginn had ran two punts back for touchdowns.. and the classy fans began throwing things on the field and from the upper level down toward the lower level?

it should say enough about him that they named those Ted Talks cult-like/indoctrination things after him.Giant Moose wrote:Ted Ginn sounds like a good guy to have some gin with.Robert J Sakimano wrote:I might have been at that game..
