Happy (early) NSD!
It will be interesting to see how today shakes out. Seems like it will kinda replace the traditional NSD, but who knows.

Juco DE Jordan Allen announcing tonight at 8:30 Eastern. Seems to be between TCU, MSU and Tennessee. I'm not as hopeful on this one as I was a week ago when he said some things in an interview that really made me think he already had his mind up that he was EL bound. Huge position of need for next year though.

Tea leaves and twitter - Allen is going to announce for Tennessee or TCU.
Coach D stated he did not expect anything else to happen until the Feb period and sources on other boards who are really respected hard working MSU journalists (i.e. not Hondo) are saying they are hearing he wouldn't be able to enroll early if he chose a B1G school.

Damn, you're right. Outta sight and all that. Are we just not hitting Florida hard enough, or is it just too difficult with the SEC and ACC picking first?
I also wonder if we're ceding ground to Franklin and Nardawg in PA.

Or else we're getting the kids we want so FL isn't a priority. Sunshine take. Personally I like the MI/OH focus.

Love it. Just looked at Michigan's class. It is similarly "ranked" but only has 4 kids from Michigan and 0 from Ohio.

Michigan's class should once again have a deep hatred of MSU and OSU, full of rivalry fever unknown to college football.

Re: tOfficial MSU Football Recruiting Thread: Class of 2018
Am I missing some sarcasm? When have we ever loaded up on more than a kid or two in each class from FL or PA during the Coach D era?
Our classes are almost always comprised of something like 50% Ohio kids 35% Michigan kids and the rest from rando states, be it GA, FL, KY, CA, TX, PA etc.

Re: tOfficial MSU Football Recruiting Thread: Class of 2018
I just checked. Over the past 4 recruiting classes prior to this year, we've had one kid total from PA (Montae Nicholson) and the most we had in any class from FL was 3 last year, and one of those was Jack Camper who is technically from VA but went to IMG Academy for a couple of years.

Not at all. More likely, I'm just wrong about frequently having a couple of PA kids and often a Florida recruit. Maybe that's gone by the wayside in the last few years because we've been doing so well in ILL. Then again, I could be wrong about that, too.
Put it this way: Not even Goose would bet on me being right.

The two key quotes in there for me:
Talking about La'Darius Jefferson
“(He) runs through tackles, great hands,” Dantonio said. “(The) guy touches the ball 220 times as a senior. He's used to handling the football. Gives you a run-pass guy, a wildcat guy. There's so many different things he can do as a football player. We were very, very excited. He's another young man, we passed on some guys that had de-committed from other high-level programs that were very interested in coming to Michigan State in order to get this guy.”
And the 3rd Dowell:
If the last name looks familiar, it should. Michael Dowell is the brother of twins Andrew and David, both of whom are already starters for the Spartans. I don’t know much about the younger Dowell brother. But I know this: When a third brother comes to the same college football program and when a mother sends a third child to the same place, it says something about that place. This has already happened twice recently with the Allen and Bullough brothers.
Whatever questions you or I might have about the internal culture of a place, nothing speaks to its soundness and goodness more than a third brother showing up on campus.

He takes a redshirt year to try QB. It forces him to learn the full offense anyhow. He either shows that he can be a multi skilled QB at this level or he moves to RB.
